Partner in sanity

It was the T20 World Cup 2021, this was the first ICC tournament for the team without Mahi bhai and hence it was utter chaos. The only sane ones in the team, Ash and Bhuvi were completely going nuts trying to handle them. It was times like this when they missed Mahi bhai even more. After their match, the team was in the team bus and going back to their hotel. Having won the match, the bus was chaotic to say the least. Their bus driver had turned back thrice wide eyed, because he couldn't believe it was an international cricket team and not a bunch of kids.
Ash and Bhuvi wanted to hide somewhere and pretend they didn't know these people. But alas, they couldn't do that. They were sitting beside each other and all they could do was sigh and look at each other time to time. Bhuvi getting fed up of the noise, put earpods in and tried to doze off. As soon as he was about to sleep, he heard a loud ear bleeding scream. He jerked up and looked around. What he saw just pissed him.
Harry was screaming while Jassi, Rahul and Virat were beating him. He asked Ash what happened and he told him that Hardik was playing some random English songs and pulling jassi to dance with him. Jassi denied but Harry wouldn't budge. Jassi tried to explain that the meaning of the lyrics is not appropriate. Harry laughed at that
"Well, we're in a team bus, I won't be cancelled"
"How many times do I tell you not to bring that up" Rahul scowled
"Why? Are you worried you'll get cancelled just by me talking about it?"
"Harry, stop" Virat warned firmly
"But why? Can't I even talk about it? It's not like I committed a crime -"
Before he could speak more Jassi covered his mouth
"That's it, don't speak more"
But Harry being Harry bit Jassi's hand and started speaking again, that's when Rahul, Virat and Jassi joined forces to beat him. Apparently to put some sense into him. That was why Harry had screamed dramatically about how they were ganging up against him and feigned a heartbreak

"That's so ridiculous" Bhuvi said scoffing
"Well, what do you expect from Harry?"
"Can't they keep it down?I'm trying to sleep!" Bhuvi said frustrated
"Let's call Mahi bhai" Ash suggested and Bhuvi beamed at that idea.
"Yes, he will know how to handle them"
Ash called Mahi bhai and as if god was on their side, he picked up

"Hello Ash "
"Mahi bhai, we need help"
"We? Who's we?"
"Me and Bhuvi "
"What happened?"
Before Ash could answer, an other ear piercing scream was heard
"What's going on?"
"Just, Harry is getting beaten by the entire team right now. In the team bus and the driver keeps giving us looks " Bhuvi said interjecting
"So you want my help to calm this chaos?"
"Yes Mahi bhai, help please " both of them said together sounding desperate.
"Ok put the phone on speaker "

Ash put the phone on speaker and went nearer to the team
"You guys are such cheaters " Harry shouted
"You shouldn't have brought it up, monkey " Rahul said scowling
"Yeah as if..."

"EVERYONE QUITE NOW ' Mahi bhai's voice echoed through the bus
All of them stood still in their places and turned towards the voice. They saw Bhuvi and Ash standing together with a phone in the latter's hand. Both of them smiling innocently.
"Bhai.. Mahi bhai... Umm we... Harry.. he..." Virat stuttered
"Don't give me explanations. You guys can't be quiet in the bus too? Stop troubling Ash and Bhuvi. You're going to make them like you. And I don't want that. You got that?" He said sternly.
The team glared at the two criminals who just smiled innocently.
"Stop glaring at them, it's your fault. You have any idea you are international players? Atleast behave like that in public "
Rohit was about to ask how he knew they were glaring at the two but realised it's Mahi bhai and he knows everything about them.
"Leave those two sane people alone "
"Yes Bhai " their voices chorused before the call was disconnected. Ash and Bhuvi sat in their seats without a further word and the team, surprisingly went to their seats without any noise too. Bhuvi looked at Ash, to already find him looking back
"It's good to have a company in being sane" Bhuvi admitted
"I know, I love these insane people. But sometimes I just want sanity. Thank you for being my sane partner" Ash said laughing
"Feelings are mutual brother " Bhuvi smiled before finally dozing off on the other sane one's shoulder

This is one pair that I feel is sane, yet they have that underlying mischieve in them. Love them both 💙
