"JEREMIAH,"she mumbled breathlessly.
"we need to head out," molly said seriously with a dopey smile on her kiss bitten lips.
the curly haired boy groaned and pouted, his hands squeezing tighter at her hips. "i don't want to move though."
she sighed and pushed lightly at his chest, hopping off his lap and off her bed to the closet to grab her shoes. "we need to. they're gonna start getting suspicious if we wait any longer."
"why do we even have to go?" he whined. "its not like we're the ones playing in the tournament."
she titled her head at him and narrowed her gaze towards him. "steven, shayla, belly and taylor are playing. also, your mom is running it. we need to be there to support them."
he took long steps over to her to wrap his arms around her waist from behind and bury his face into her neck, leaving soft kisses against her skin. "i'd much rather continue kissing you, sweetheart."
she pushed down the butterflies in her stomach and stepped away from him. "i know, jere. but we really need to leave."
he let out a deep breath and adjusted his shirt as he moved to sit on the side of her bed to continue watching her pace around to finish off her look. "why can't we just tell everyone?"
"what?" she asked curiously as she stopped in her tracks. that definitely caught her off guard.
his eyes bored into hers when she turned to face him. "about us. why not just tell them? i don't want to hide anymore."
she really didn't have a set reason. but at the same time, was that really a good idea? "i don't know about that," she said wearily. "what if they don't approve?"
"then who cares?" he replied. "they'll get over it. i jus' don't wanna live in secret when i know its you i want."
molly's heartbeat picked up slightly, but a disappointed look quickly took over her face. "if you don't want to hide anymore, why do you always stop when someone else is around?"
he tilted his head in confusion and looked up into her eyes. "what do you mean?"
"you know what i mean," she said sadly. "like when belly got in the car? you just stopped and acted like it never happened."
he sighed under his breath and leaned forward to grab her hips and pull her to stand between his spread legs. "i panicked," he admitted. "i don't know why, i just did. i know thats a lame excuse and i'm sorry i did that, i just didn't know what else to do."
he couldn't tell whether she had accepted that answer when she pursed her lips into a thin line, but when she walked away and grabbed her bag, he assumed she didn'. "c'mon. we need to go or we'll miss your moms speech," she replied hurriedly.
"molly, please don't be mad at me," he pleaded as he got up from his seated position and followed her out of her room and towards the stairs. "i'm sorry for making you feel like i was hiding you and i'm sorry for not having a real reason. i don't want you to think i'm all talk about showing you off."
she shook her head in response and shrugged as they descended down the steps. "i'm not mad."
he stopped at the bottom of staircase and stared at her. "i'm being serious."
