"HEY, WANNA GO INTO TOWN?"

conrad asked as he opened up mollys door.

"i wanna go get some snacks and see if they have anything cool to take back home," he said, hoping she'd join him so he wouldn't have to go alone.

she lazily rubbed her eyes and pushed the few stray hairs away from her face. "yeah sure. just give me a minute to fully wake up," she replied with a groggy voice.

conrad closed the door and came to sit in the vanity chair, pulling his phone out to start scrolling through his socials. "did you see that jayden lopez is throwing tonight?"

molly pushed herself off of her bed and to her closet to find something to wear for the day. "what? he hasn't thrown all summer." he was an old friend they'd met a few summers back who was known for his crazy parties.

"well, i guess he finally came out of hibernation or something cause he's definitely back," he informed, looking through all the stories of people talking about it. "so are we going or what?"

she raised an eyebrow at him before shutting the bathroom door and quickly changing into the clothes. when she emerged again, she still had the same look on her face. "remember what happened at the last gathering i went to?"

he couldn't help but laugh to himself. "when you got shit-faced?"

she threw the hoodie she'd just taken off at him and rolled her eyes. "no dipshit. when your girlfriend stole my phone, which i still haven't gotten back, and left us to get chased down by some random freak?"

"that wasn't my fault," he shot back with his hands raised in the air. "nicole did that, not me. and we came and got you the moment we got the call anyway. all that matters is you were safe at the end of the night."

molly scoffed. "what matters is that i still don't have a phone, conrad. it'd be really helpful if i did. it's literally been a week and i feel like i'm starting to lose my mind."

he stood up from her bed and patted her on the back as he walked past and to her door. "i'll get it back for you," he said calmly. "c'mon, lets go before the others get up and start asking for stuff." the two quickly headed out and into the car. he wasted no time, immediately getting down to the interesting questions. "so, you and jere? start talking."

she laughed softly to herself and took a deep breath before starting. "it's a long story."

conrad smacked his lips. "its great thing we've got a long car ride then, right?"

she rolled her eyes and smacked his arm. "i mean, as you know, we've always been close. this summer just kinda felt different. i don't know if maybe it was cause i didn't come up here last year, but its hard to explain. things just felt weird. not necessarily in a bad way, you know?"

he nodded along as he focused on the road. "yeah, i get what you mean."

"yeah, so, we just naturally got closer and we started spending most of our time together and all this. we'd fall asleep watching movies together, spend hours at the beach, he'd even set up little 'dates' for us," she said, looking over at him to see him raise a brow in confusion. "then he started getting protective over me and saying how much he likes me and wants to be with me."
