I don't own Naruto.

One Last Shot.

One more shot couldn't hurt, at least that was what she had kept telling herself. She had told herself this multiple times already and was trying to drown out her sorrows. She took the next shot and stacked it on top of the little pyramid she had already created from the previous one's glasses. She couldn't help herself, she felt so miserable and looked over. Kiba had come to her and told her that Sakura had admitted her love for Naruto once again, and although Naruto had rejected her advances and told her no, yet again, she couldn't help but overthink and feel like she had lost.

He clearly had someone else in mind if he were able to tell Sakura no. She released another sigh and downed another shot. She looked over to see a second pyramid of shots being built across the bar. It seemed someone else wasn't having a good night either if they were downing whiskey shots in the same manner as she was. Her eyes widened slightly as she realized who it was, blonde hair and ocean blue eyes.

She thought it over for a moment then decided to take her stack of shot glasses down the bar and build them up again next to him. She slipped into the seat next to him and he didn't even seem to notice her, as per usual she supposed. She sighed softly and began stacking her glasses next to his. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed him watching her as she stacked the glasses. She looked over to him and he looked away.

"How are you, Naruto?" she asked, and he stayed silent for a moment. "Ahhh... I've been better." He sighed and took another shot, stacking it on top of the pyramid. She was going to let him simmer on that shot for a second as she took her own. She was curious as to what could have upset him so much, but she didn't want to overstep boundaries. She looked over to him once more and noticed he was staring at her once more, but a little more blatantly than from the side of his eyes this time. He whispered something under his breath, but she couldn't hear it.

A deep blush covered her cheeks as she met his gaze. He released a little chuckle but said nothing. He shook his head and took another shot before he sighed and turned towards her. "So, what's got you drinking like this, Hinata-chan?" he asked, and she blushed and began sputtering indignantly, much to her chagrin. She had embarrassed herself already and they had just started talking... she buried her face in her hands to hide her blush and he laughed softly.

He reached over and patted her on the head. "It's ok, Hinata-chan. You can talk to me about it." he said, and she felt her face flush darker, she could feel it creeping down her neck. It was so embarrassing that she was behaving like this right now. "I u-ummm...." She began, but he leaned in closer, and she started stammering once more. He was a mere inches from her face and she pulled away from him and fiddled with her fingers once more.

She couldn't do this; she didn't know why she had even tried to come down here and talk to him. She opened her mouth, and a bunch of gibberish came out, word vomit even. She sighed and slumped her shoulders as she dropped her head in embarrassment. She knew she wasn't making things any easier for her, but she couldn't help it. She was hopelessly in love with the man, and he was making her make a fool out of herself just by being this close.

Her body tensed up as his fingers brushed over her cheek as he brushed her hair behind her ear. She slowly turned to look at him and he grinned at her. "You're really pretty Hinata-chan." he said suddenly, and she stared at him wide eyed for a moment. Her jaw slackened and she sputtered indignantly once more. She couldn't find legitimate words to say to this. He thought she was pretty? She had never thought she would ever hear him say that to her.

Her shaky fingers reached and felt for the new shot that had been placed before her and she trembled as she brought it to her lips and downed it. She waited until her stomach settled from it and she turned to him once more with a concerned look on her face. "What, do I have something on my face?" he asked and began rubbing his hands on his face. She released a giggle and shook her head. He truly was oblivious. "N-no..." she whispered softly, and he leaned forward once more.
