“…......”

Edwin felt his vision blur and slowly opened and closed his eyes. The sky was still clear and blue.

Edwin opened and closed his fists, recalling the sensation of that time. That day, he does not regret holding Richard's hand. If he goes back, he'll probably make the same choice himself.

But unlike before, his heart was heavy. It was because he had regrets about something other than Richard's.

Etienne.

Edwin's face blurred when he remembered his son. When he thought of the child who looked at him with empty eyes, his whole body became cold as if the blood had completely dried up.

Am I feeling guilty now?

Edwin mocked himself with a bitter face. It's almost 23 years. In the meantime, he himself never did anything fatherly to his child.

He distanced himself from the child because it was painful to see, and he turned away thinking that he was the empress's child, not his own. Even so, it was dumbfounded even to himself that he was concerned that the child had closed the door to him.

Shit.

Edwin swallowed the swear words coming up from within and washed his face dry. It wasn't that he was comfortable leaving my child behind. But he thought it was unavoidable. He behaved cowardly, because otherwise he would make himself a bastard. That's how he rationalized his actions.

“A pitiful bastard.”

Edwin, who distorted his face, eventually cursed at himself. The more he thought about it, the more he was ashamed and couldn't stand it.

Why does he always have only regrets?
Edwin let out a long sigh of remorse. He didn't know what to look at Etienne from now on, or how to treat him. It was all his karma.

“Haah......”

When Edwin, who had become despondent, sighed so loudly that his shoulders trembled, he felt someone nearby.

"Hmm?"

Sensing the presence, Edwin flashed and raised his head. When he noticed Etienne just entering the garden, he jumped up from his seat. Étienne also spotted Edwin and stopped.

“Prince?”

“Father emperor?”

Surprise crossed Etienne's face when he recognized Edwin. He hurriedly came to his senses and set his example.

“Meet the sun of the empire.”

“Good.”

Edwin approached Etienne, shaking his hand. He studied Étienne's face with worried eyes.

Hee said, “I heard you were knocked out.......Are you okay? Is it okay to move like this?”

“Yes, it has improved a lot.”

Etienne smiled lightly as if he was okay. Edwin clicked his tongue as he looked at his pale skin even under the bright sunlight. Every time he saw something, his complexion didn't look good.

What am I saying?

Edwin couldn't find the right words, and his lips moved. It was awkward to even exchange simple regards, as he had rarely had conversations worthy of conversation with Etienne.

Etienne was also uncomfortable with the conversation. An awkward silence fell as neither of them spoke. It was Edwin who broke the silence.

“Ahem, if you're not feeling well, you should rest. Where are you going?”
