Kathleen's POV:
I rubbed my eyes as I sat up and climbed out of bed. I took a quick shower and slipped on black skinny jeans and a grey cotton long sleeve shirt.
I brushed my hair and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked sick myself, unfortunately...I'm not the one who's sick.
I walked downstairs to see my mom and tanner on the couch watching tv.
"I-I'm gonna get going for school" I say just loud enough for them to hear.
"Alright honey good bye" my mom smiles at me slightly.
"You guys will be good by your selves?" I asked quietly.
"We'll be fine" tanner reassured me. I nodded and walked out the door with my back pack towards Cameron's car that was waiting for me.
"You ready?" He asked sympathetically looking into my eyes.
I nodded and put on a fake smile his way and he started driving.
--
We walked through the school doors and every one started staring.
"I'm gonna go to the principle and talk to her" I say to Cameron as he turns and gives me a hug.
"Alright...meet you at lunch?" He asks smiling.
"Yeah" I sigh and head down the hall.
I walked into the office and the principle instantly noticed me.
"Oh Kathleen, come on in" she smiled as I took a seat in a chair in front of her.
"So I suppose you are here for your schedule, of coarse it is the same as before" she smiled and handed me the paper of my time table.
"Now...how are you doing?" She sighed and placed her hands in her lap.
"Um...good" I shrug, avoiding eye contact.
"How's Tanner?" She asked hesitantly.
"He's fine" I rushed, looking around the room.
"Well...if you ever need some one to talk to let me know and if you need some time to excuse your self from class don't be scared to, I will...talk to your teachers" she nodded and sent me a sympathetic smile.
I got up from the chair and walked out of the room, to be collided with a tall figure. I stumbled back but got my balance before I could fall.
"I'm sorry I need to watch where I'm going" I said fixing my back pack strap on my shoulder, not looking up.
"It's fine" a deep familiar voice chuckled. I snapped my head up to see the same guy I saw at the store. Luke.
His blue eyes were bright in the school lights, his black skinny jeans as tight as they were the other day and his nirvana t-shirt fit around his figure quite nicely.
"Luke?" I smiled up at him and stepped back a small step.
"Hey you remembered my name" he smiled and shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Yeah, I'd love to chat but I don't wanna be late for class" I shrugged and started walking down the empty hall.
"What class do you have?" He asked catching up with me.
"Briant, english" i looked down at my schedule then back to him.
"Damn, i've got Sanders, science" he huffed.
"Well, have fun" i teased and reached for the door handle and waved to Luke.As I opened the door to my English class all heads snapped to me.
Gasps were heard, eyes widened, jaws dropped. I walked over to my teacher and handed her the slip and took my seat.
"Alright every one I think I'm just gonna give every one free time" the teacher smiled. I felt eyes stare into me as I took out my head phones and put one bud into my ear and pulled out my book. I started reading as I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Hey" Kayleigh sent me a sympathetic smile and pulled a chair next to me.
"Hey" I tried to smile but it didn't exactly work.---
The bell rang and every one shot up from their desks and ran out. I took my time to stand up and pack my stuff as my teacher slowly walked over to me.
"Kathleen do you have a minute?" She asked politely. I nodded and swung my backpack over my shoulder.
"How are you doing?" She smiled. I looked at her and thought for a minute.
Broken.
Tired.
Scared.
Sick....
"I'm fine" I lie and let out a long sigh. She looks down at her hands and back up to me.
"Alright you can go" she sighed.
I entered the cafeteria and walked towards my usual table. every one of my friends heads turned towards me and gasped. I heard a bunch of 'oh my god's' and 'you're back' but I never answered, I didn't feel like being swarmed right now.
"Every one is buzzing about your 'reappearance'" Tami sighed.
"How does every one know already?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Well considering you walked in and a bunch of people saw you and in class so obviously people are gonna talk, shit spreads like nutella in this place" kayleigh exaggerated.I felt a tap on my shoulder and my head snapped sideways, Luke stood there with a smile on his face and his hands in his pockets.
"Hey Kathleen what's up?" he asked nudging my shoulder. I sent him a smile and Tami swatted my shoulder. I turned towards her and she leaned to whisper in my ear.
"how the hell do you know Luke?" she gasped. I shrugged and turned back to Luke.
"nothing just sitting with my friends" I smiled, he looked around the table and nodded once and smiled.
"ladies" he chuckled. "so do you have anything planned tonight?" he asked politely and curious at the same time.
"um...yeah sorry" I looked down at my plate.
"what do you have planned?" he asked teasingly.
"I have to go to an appointment for my brother" I cleared my throat and avoided eye contact.
"oh okay well give me a call and we'll work some thing out" he smiled and stood up while setting down a piece of paper. Once he went to his table and sat with some other guys i opened the piece of paper, looked at the number and put it in my pocket."Okay, now you have to frikin tell us how the hell you know him" all of my friends leaned towards me with smiles on their faces and plead in their eyes.
"I met him at the grocery store" I shrugged and picked at my food.
-----------------The bell for the end of the day rang and i started to head to me locker. I put my books in my bag and grabbed my sweater and closed the door not paying attention as i turned to walk out of school only to be scared by a tall figure.
"My....god!" I half yelled half huffed. As a regained my breath the deep voice let out a laugh. I looked up to see Luke smiling down at me.
"Did I scare you?' He laughed.
"Just a bit" I said sarcastically and turned away to start walking.
"So you said you had plans tonight but what about tomorrow?" He smiled and shoved his hands into his pockets.
"I believe i may be free tomorrow" I nodded.
"Well good because I'm in desperate need of Netflix and popcorn" he chuckled.
"Sounds good to me" I smiled and nodded walking out the doors of the school.
I started walking along the sidewalk to my house since Cameron decided to ditch me. I heard the sound of a car slow down beside me, I looked over to see Luke.
"Hop in" he smiled.
"I don't get into cars with strangers" I smirked.
