Awakening in the morning, it was cold, and my window was still wide open, letting a nasty bitter draft in. I huddled under the covers, enveloping my body in them, not wanting to leave the comfort of sleep. Downstairs, I could hear my dad and Michonne talking and laughing, intrigued by their happiness. I decided to force myself from the bed. As I got up, I closed my window and slipped some socks on, I must've kicked mine off in my sleep. I was already dressed the day before, I was so exhausted after the day that I had fallen asleep in my clothes. I slowly walked down the stairs, rubbing my eyes and yawning.

"Well, good morning." My dad grinned at me. He seemed unusually happy this morning, but it was a refreshing suprise. I smiled back at him and saw that breakfast was already on the table, I chucked my weight onto a chair and began to eat,

"They're fresh tomatoes, I picked them this morning," He smiled, his eyes creasing up as he threw a teatowel onto the kitchen side and sat in front of me sipping at his water. He sniffed before turning his nose up,
"Son, you need a shower," He laughed, and I smiled at him before rolling my eyes, ever since I was a kid he would always tell me how bad I smell as a way to make me laugh.

"Says you," I joked back before flicking the hair from my face and continuing to eat, Michonne entered the kitchen smiling, and she ruffled my hair as she walked past and squeezed Rick's shoulder. Despite the cold air that had woken me up, seeing everyone else so happy brightened my mood. Once I had finished my breakfast, I placed it in the sink and looked back at my dad.

"So, Maggies coming to visit today," I began grinning once my dad had said that, I had missed Maggie so much, her twagy accent, her smile, her hugs.

"Really?" I asked excitedly, walking back over to the table. My dad nodded, buttoning up his over shirt fully. If Maggie was coming to visit from Hilltop, I definitely should get a shower. We hadn't seen her since that night. Sasha had been coming back every now and then to update us on her condition, and she and the baby were finally stable enough to come see us!
Michonne laughed, noticing my excitement she leant on the kitchen side, her hands grasping it.

"We've all missed her. It'll be a nice boost for us all to see her," Michonnes voice was soft. She glanced over at my dad beaming ear to ear. She looked at him with infatuation. I have to admit, I suppose it is somewhat sweet the way she looks at him. But, that could be the good mood of the morning, making me think that.

"Right," I said, breaking the moment, "I'll go shower...Dad?" My tone changed, the events of yesterday slipping back into my mind. "Are you going to tell Maggie about what Michonne and I saw?" The air became tense and thick, Rick swallowed hard, his face turning a little darker.

"We have to." Michonne interrupted, stepping forwards and crossing her arms. "There's no question, Rick, we have to." I could tell Michonne was uncomfortable with the idea of hiding this from Maggie. I nodded in agreement and looked at her.

"Yes, Ill-Ill tell her." My dad stuttered, telling Maggie when she's already in a fragile state could break her more, but it's important that she knows. Now that the mood has changed, I decided to slip upstairs and take a shower. The warm water splashing my skin was soothing all of the sore muscles and bruises I had. It was a nice reminder of what came before the apocalypse.

Where your main worries were: does this girl at school like me? Did I do my homework? What am I having for dinner? But instead, it's worrying about who's going to die next, where will we sleep, do we have enough food to go around, is there enough water for everyone? I was young when the apocalypse started, I was just about to turn eleven. I'm sixteen, almost seventeen now, I think. Days are starting to slip from me, I'm not completely sure what day or year we're in right now.
