When Lance pulled back, catching his breath, Keith put up a hand, cupping it around his cheek, warm and cool and rough and soft all at once.

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" he whispered, his purple-gray eyes saying the rest: Are you okay with me? and I don't deserve this.

"Dude, I'm initiating." Lance chuckled, his heart doing cartwheels in his throat. "Of course I'm okay with it."

"What if someone—"

Suddenly, the light filling the room dimmed to half its brightness, and the sound of a horn blew softly through the air, signaling the end of the day, or whatever they had on this dark wasteland.

Lance grinned, reaching up to wrap a hand around Keith's. "I think that's a sign."

"To what?"

He sighed endearingly. How could this adorable idiot be so smart yet so painfully ignorant? "To stop doubting yourself and trust me. No one's gonna come in, and I don't hate you, so stop with all the insecurity!"

Keith's mouth quirked into a smile—the warm, soft smile Lance had only seen when he was looking at him. Or, at least, that's what he liked to believe.
"Alright. Then scooch." He pushed gently at Lance's side, trying to get him to roll off, but Lance just frowned.

"Why? Is this not okay?"

Keith raised an eyebrow jokingly. "I am not a bottom."

"So you're saying I am?" Lance yelped, offended. "I've never been a bottom! I can do everything you can!"

"Uh huh." Suddenly, Keith knocked his knees out from under him, at the same time pushing him over and rolling on top, pinning his hands to the bed. "Then why am I stronger?"

"Ghh—" Lance glared up at him, but he couldn't really put himself behind it, not when they were in this position. He felt vulnerable with his hands held down, even though he knew Keith would never hurt him.

"Besides," the red Paladin continued, "I know more...about this stuff."

Lance smirked. "How so?"

"I've...I have experience, okay?"

The smile fell off his face. The thought of Keith with another guy wasn't one he liked. Not in the slightest.

"Sorry, that's not what I meant. Just...I've read books and stuff. And dreams, but I guess that doesn't count."

"Well I've had dreams like that too!" Lance blurted, before clamping his mouth shut, face heated to a million and one degrees.

But it was too late. Keith stared at him in surprise for a few seconds, then broke out into barely contained laughter, the movement making the bed tremble under them.

"What?" he snapped, and Keith let go of one of his hands to wipe at his eyes.

"Sorry, just...You're so cute when you're embarrassed."

"Wha—?" He hadn't thought it was possible for his face to heat even more, but it broke right through any limits he'd had. As Keith tried to smother his laughter, Lance realized he'd actually never seen Keith laugh, the red Paladin usually so stoic he could never tell what he was thinking. But now, here, in the half darkness of an alien building, propped over him, all his emotions were out in the open, for him to see.

Keith trusted him that much.
