Fyranili x Doragonix

(Relationship type: Romantic) 

Harissa trotted through the desert, her mate Jalapeño trailing right behind her. The two Fyranili stalked through the scorching sands of the desert, searching for any prey. They noticed a young, unguarded Lenarabu nearby. Perfect. It was probably only outside of its burrow to gather some food, so the couple had to move quickly.

Harissa jumped in front of the creature. It squeaked and turned around, running straight for a burrow in the ground. Jalapeño jumped in front of it, blocking its way to the burrow. The two Fyranili cornered the little creature, before pouncing. Harissa finished it with a quick bite to the neck. 

"Nice job, honey." Jalapeño smiled as he bit into the carcass. The two of them feasted on it for a bit before Jalepeño picked it up to bring to their den. "This'll be the little ones' first taste of Lenarabu meat." Harissa smirked as they leisurely strolled in the direction of their den, chatting along the way

And that was when chaos struck. 

A sudden meteor shower occurred. Flaming space rocks began raining down from the sky as all creatures in sight panicked and frantically searched for shelter. Korysers disguised as cactuses snapped out of their frozen statue-like postures, running for their caves. Lenarabus, Paruxes, and Ralokais squealed and ran into their burrows. 

Harissa and Jalapeño both jumped in shock and began running, their tails swishing behind them. Harissa took the lead, dashing towards the den at full speed, dodging smaller meteors that fell nearby. Harissa turned around for a second to look at where Jalapeño was. He was standing a bit far behind her, panting heavily and trying to restore energy. 

A huge meteor was shooting straight for him.

"NO!" Harissa shrieked, running at him to try and push him out of the meteor's path, but it was too late. The giant rock landed right on him before he even had time to react.

 Harissa panicked and began desperately trying to push the large rock off, but to no avail. For a second, as other meteors fell around her, she thought she would die right then and there trying to save her mate. But suddenly, pushing the meteor became easier. She looked to her side to see a large Empiterium pushing the meteor alongside her. With the king's help, the two creature managed to shove the giant rock off of poor Jalapeño. Harissa gave the Empiterium a thankful nod before hauling her mate onto her back and sprinting towards their den. 

Harissa made it into the den, out of breath and exhausted. Her two offspring turned to her. The first one was Chili. He was an energetic, feisty little creature who was always up to trouble. He took after his mother in appearance, with scales splattered with crimson reds. The second was Cinnamon. She was a shy, quiet one who often stayed inside. She had a Piebald mutation that colored her scales shades of browns, white, black, and even a bit of yellow with deep blue eyes. 

"What happened to Dad!?" They both exclaimed at the same time, getting up to examine him. Jalapeño was laying on the ground, unmoving. "He- he got hit by a meteor." Harissa sighed, looking down at him. She put one of her claws on his chest, feeling for a heartbeat. And that was when she realized. His heart wasn't beating. 

"No....No...." Harissa whimpered as she desperately shook her mate. She prayed that this was all a dream and she would wake up curled up next to him later. But it wasn't. She continued shaking him, even though she knew it wouldn't change anything. Chili and Cinnamon watched worriedly, tears in their eyes. "CURSE THIS WORLD!" Harissa screeched before she broke down into sobs. She slowly walked to her room of the cave, curling up tightly into a ball, sobbing into her tail. Why was life so cruel?

Harissa sat in her room of the cave again, slowly chewing on a Chrysos leg. Chili and Cinnamon had been bringing her scavenged meat for the past few days, as she refused to even leave the den for anything. But today, for once, she finally had the urge to get up and do something. So she slowly got up and walked out of the cave for once. 

She walked around the arid desert, sand blowing in her face as she looked around. Ghiblis, Lucensias, and Banishiis soared through the desert skies. Lenerabus and Khikus scampered around eagerly. She looked down at the little creatures somberly. If only she could find a way to be happy like them... 

She suddenly heard a shriek from behind her, and turned around to see a Doragonix, and what appeared to be its offspring, cornered by a group of Korysers. She recognized the Doragonix- they didn't really have much of a relationship, but they would often share scavenged carcasses. They didn't interact much, except for a few glances and gestures, or the occasional muttered "Hi." But she saw the horror in the Doragonix's eyes. She couldn't let another creature go through the same suffering and pain of losing a family member. 

Harissa charged at the Koryser group. She smacked all of them with her tail, fighting powerfully as the Doragonix and their child watched with amazement, their tails wagging. The Doragonix soon jumped into the fight, fighting with tooth, claw and spike against the Korysers. Eventually, they sent the Korysers running into the distance, covered with scratches and wounds. 

"Thanks." The Doragonix smiled, her tail wagging. Her child sat by her side, nodding. "By the way, what's your name? Never caught it." "I'm Harissa." Harissa, said, and she smiled for the first time in weeks. "I'm Arena, this right here is Quicksand." Arena said, pointing to her child. Quicksand. Quicksand gave a charming smile and chirped. "He doesn't speak much." Arena explained, patting Quicksand on the head. 

From then on, Arena and Harissa began to meet often, and they discovered a lot of similarities about each other. They both adored Gorgonichus meat, they were both terrified of Hellion Wardens, and more. Quicksand also got along very well with Chili and Cinnamon- Especially Cinnamon, with their shared "weirdness".

One day, the two of them walked along the desert oasis, looking for prey as they chattered. A Ghibli suddenly barreled at them, tackling Harissa to the ground. Arena jumped at the Ghibli, dragging them off of Harissa as they all battled. The two eventually subdued the angry Ghibli, standing on top of them as they snarled in protest. 

"Um, Hari? I know this is random, but, you wanna be mates?" Arena asked suddenly. "YES! I've been wanting to ask you-" Harissa smiled as the two headbutted each other affectionately. "Ugh, this is embarrassing. First I get beat up by some lizards and now I have a proposal going on above me-" The Ghibli grumbled before Harissa cut them off by stamping her foot on their snout. 

The two of them got off the raging Ghibli, who glared at them and quickly flew away. "What a grump." Arena huffed, before turning to Harissa. "I can't wait to tell Quicksand! He's gonna be so excited about having a new stepmom!" Harissa nodded eagerly as the two of them looked towards the shining sun. 

As Paruxes and Phyremias scampered around them and baby Lucensias flew around under the careful watch of their mothers, Harissa realized that although Jalapeño was gone, she could still find joy in the world. She knew that right now he was smiling down on her from above.
