CHAPTER SEVEN
miscommunication

"Hey," Venus elbows Miguel, "Yeesh, is everything good? Is it the practice test?"

Miguel looks to Venus, uninterested, "Yeah. I'm fine. Just got a little... distracted."

Venus furrows her eyebrows, "Why?"

"The tournament," Miguel effortlessly lies through his teeth, "I don't have a lot of time to prepare, so..."

"Liar."

"What? I'm not lying."

"Yeah, alright, whatever," Venus rolls her eyes playfully.

"What'd you do last night?" Miguel questions.

Venus smiles, "I had dinner with the LaRussos."

Miguel nods, "Right. Can I meet your family some time? I mean, I've never been to your house..."

"I haven't been to yours either."

"You're more than welcome to come over."

Venus shrugs her shoulders, "Tonight just... isn't a good night. But maybe we can go out somewhere? Get milkshakes...?"

Miguel shakes his head softly, "I should train."

"Oh," Venus nods, "Yeah. Okay."

Love looks at Yasmine's story, rolling her eyes at the mention of her birthday.

Yasmine's throwing a party. Love would consider going if she hadn't already ditched Yasmine and Moon for Sam.

Going to the party doesn't sound ideal, so she won't go. Probably.

She scrolls through her contacts, finding Sam's number and calling it.

"This is Sam, leave a message!"

Love sighs, "Hey, Sam. I... um... I wanted to ask about the party at the canyon. Also if everything is alright? I'll hopefully see you soon. Call me back, alright?"

Venus steps into the room, "You're going to Yasmine's party, right?"

Love looks up from her phone, "Er... I don't know yet."

"Alright, well, a bunch of us are crashing it," Venus says, "You should come."

"Crashing it?" Love gives a look of empathy, "It's her birthday. Isn't that kind of cruel?"

Venus nods, "Yep. It's also cruel that she's such a bitch. Either be nice or watch karma happen. There's an obvious answer there."

Sam has gotten grounded. She has her phone taken away and, of course, Anthony is rubbing it in as much as possible.

Maeve has been keeping Sam company while she's been grounded.

As the doorbell rings, Anthony gets it, and it's none other than Robby Keene and Venus Cordelia.
