He is associated with creation, knowledge, and the Vedas ( religious texts ) . Brahma is prominently mentioned in creating legends. It is also said that Brahma was the creator of the whole universe .

Brahma is commonly depicted as a red or golden complexioned bearded man with four heads . His four heads represent four Vedas and are pointed to four cardinal directions. It is said that the four heads of Brahma are eternally reciting the four Vedas . He is seated on a lotus and his vahana ( mount ) is a hansa ( swan )

Brahma is rarely worshipped as a primary deity in India owing to absence of an significant sect directed to his reverence . Few temples dedicated to him exist in India , the most famous being the Brahma Temple , Pushkar in Rajasthan . Some Brahma temples are found outside India , such as at the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok .

Vishnu, 'The Protector', also known as Narayana and Hari, is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. This means that he protects the universe from being destroyed. It is believed that Vishnu holds the Earth and all living organisms.

Whenever the world is threatened with evil, chaos, and destructive forces, Vishnu descends in the form of an avatar (incarnation) to restore the cosmic order and protect dharma . The Dashavatars ( ten incarnations ) are the ten primary avatars ( incarnations ) of Vishnu. Out of these ten , Rama and Krishna are the most important.
