Spencer and I are sitting at the dinner table waiting for Brendon's family to get here. Mrs. Smith is running around making sure the food is perfect.
Soon enough, there's a knock on the door. Mrs. Smith rushes to the door with a welcoming smile ready to show them.
A woman with short brown hair and a man with buzzed brown hair both step inside.
"Hi! I'm Grace Urie and this is my husband Boyd. Thank you again for inviting us! Brendon will be a little late because of work." The woman says with a smile as they sit at the table.
"No problem!" Mrs. Smith smiles widely. "This is my son Spencer and his friend Ryan. My two daughters had cheer, so they couldn't make it."
"So I assume you boys have met Brendon?" Mrs. Urie asks.
"Yeah. He's really cool." I speak up.
"That's great! Has he made any new friends?"
"All of our friends seem to like him." Spencer says.
"Good!" Mrs. Urie grins. Then, when everyone is seated, the adults begin talking about the weather and other boring things.
Suddenly, Brendon bursts through the door. "Sorry I'm late. Boss needed me." He says as he stumbles into the chair next to mine. The adults turn their heads away from Brendon and continue their conversation.
"So Bren-" I'm interrupted by Blink-182 and see Brendon's eyes go wide as he fumbles for his phone in his pocket to turn it off. His mom shoots him a glare.
"Sorry." Brendon smiles faintly. They all look back from Brendon once again and resume their conversation.
"Nice ringtone" I smirk.
"Thanks." He laughs and I see his cheeks turn slightly red. I feel Spencer slightly elbow me under the table.
"So my birthday is this weekend and my parents want to have a party with family, but they said if I did something with my friends I wouldn't have to. So you guys wanna go bowling this Friday or something? And you guys could like stay over. I mean, if you guys want." He says clumsily.
"Sounds cool." I say.
"I can't stay over, but bowling sounds fun. I guess it'll just be you and Ry after." Spencer nudges me again. Dammit Spencer.
We talk throughout the whole dinner and before we leave, exchange phone numbers.
I walk home to see my dad passed out on the couch. Go figure. I sneak passed him to the stair case. I tip-toe as quiet as possible up to my room.
I decided to practice with my guitar. I only remembered the two easiest chords that my dad had first taught me. It'd been a few years since he'd taught me anything new. The lessons wore away with my dad's sober state.
I just strummed the two chords. I knew there was songs and chords I could learn on the internet that I could look up, but I had never really gotten into it yet. This was the first time I'd picked it up in a few months, actually.
I soon got bored and decided to do homework. Shit, I forgot my book that had the questions. The only person that I knew in that class was Brendon, so I texted him.
'hey do u have the questions for Lit hw?'
'o shit' I'll take that as a no.
'so no?'
'ya sorry'
'its ok c u tmrw'
Well, I have nothing else to do. All of my other homework was finished in class. I plopped onto my bed and slid in my earphones. I hit play on my iPod that was silver and smudged with fingerprints. I got it for Christmas from my aunt a year ago. Since then, they had released much smaller and lighter iPods. The first thing that came on my shuffle was "I Miss You" by Blink-182. I started to zone out while the songs played out.
I woke up forgetting what day and time it was. I looked at the clock on my iPod to see it was 9:30. I stood up slowly almost losing my balance. I got into the shower quickly. The faster I showered, the faster I could get back to sleep.
And I did just that.
Waking up was easier than expected, even with my annoying as hell alarm. I started with putting on my black skinny jeans and a tight band shirt. It's so old I can't even see what band, but it's probably The Beatles.
Sometimes I wonder if it bothers anyone that I almost wear the same thing everyday.
But then I remember I don't give a shit...
I grab my wrecked backpack that has been used three years in a row and walk out the door. I always get a text from Spencer to make sure I'm still coming in the morning, even though I always do.
'U ok w Bren walking w us?'
'Y wouldn't I b?' I probably shouldn't have said that because I should have known Spencer would say something stupid.
'Sry I forgot u loved him ;p' Like that. Dammit Spencer.
'I dont love him'
'Whatever' I wanted to say something snarky back, but I put my phone away and arrived to Spencer's house in silence.
I see Brendon and Spencer waiting in his driveway for me. They both stand up and we walk in awkward silence.
"So Ry," Brendon finally broke the silence. I almost smiled at the way he said my name. "Is it okay with your parents if you stay over Friday?" I never really asked my dad about it, but I just planned on saying I was sleeping over at Spencer's so I wouldn't have to ask. I never had to ask about spending the night at Spencer's because I was over there so much.
"Uh, yeah. I can"
"Okay, cool." He smiles. The rest of the walk was boring and silent. The day turned out the same way.
~A/N: Sorry these are really short. My laptop broke a few days ago and I just got it fixed. I also had no clue what I wanted to do with this chapter. I try writing all of these stories and end up deleting them getting discouraged. I promise these will get better.
