I was staring off into space thinking about my new home.
I was going to live with Spencer.
I basically already live with him, but now I legally live with him.
What the fuck.
"Ry?" I snap out of my daze. I turn my head to see a confused Brendon.
"Who is it?"
"I think it might be Spencer."
His face lightens up. "Hey, you're gonna live by me. I mean, you already lived pretty close to me but now you live by me."
I laughed at his cheeriness. It's a bad situation, but I couldn't care less at the moment.

It only took a few days to get settled into Spencer's house. It's so weird to how easily I moved into their house. I'd accepted my dad's death pretty easily, too. Maybe that's bad, but hell if I know.
My dad's service was scheduled for two weeks after his death.
I'd always thought of funerals as many people dressed in black watching the casket of the person they cared for lower into the ground while rain poured around them. But it really wasn't like that for my dad's. In fact almost the opposite. It was a clear day, and it was only Spencer's family and I. It was silent as we just kind of stood there.
God, I hope my funeral isn't like this. Where there's no one in my life who cared enough to show up to even get one last glance of me.
That's just fucking depressing.
When everything was over, I see a short little figure run across the street towards the cemetery.
"Hi, hi. Um, sorry I'm late. I just-"
"It's okay, Bren, you didn't have to come."
"Well, I-I wanted to. I mean, not like I wanted to see your father's funeral like I wanted him to die, that'd be rude. I mean like I wanted to come to help you. Not that you need help, it's just like, moral support, you know?"
"Yeah, I know." I smile.
"Well Brendon, you're welcome to come to lunch with us." I hear Mrs. Smith's voice behind me.
"Uh, yeah, I'll let my mom know." He smiled.

We all sat in the restaurant with an awkward silence. God, haven't I had enough of that already?
"So, Brendon, how are you enjoying the new school?" Mrs. Smith tries to converse, bless her heart, because no one else is trying to.
"Uh, it's good. Everybody's been nice so far. Thanks for asking." He nods and Mrs. Smith smiles back.
I feel my phone start to vibrate in my pocket. A text from Brendon.
'this is awkward'
'ye ik'
'um so about this friday. it's rly ok if you dont want to.' The fuck? Is he brain dead? Our date is the thing that's keeping me at school everyday, I'm not just gonna cancel.
'nononono. were going.' I see him look up at me from the table and smile. His wide brown eyes sparkled. And yes, they fucking sparkled.
Yes, I should definitely be going this Friday.
A/N: THANK YOU GUYS FOR 1k. This is kind of a shitty thank you. I wanted to write a really long chapter for just in time when this hit 1k but it came by faster than expected and tried to throw things together. Sorry. But, I hope you enjoyed nonetheless.
