Spencer and I were back to normal the next day. We walked to school with Brendon and talked about nonsense like nothing had ever happened.

"What happened yesterday?" Andy asked at lunch. Bless his heart, he was just being concerned for his friends, but I didn't really want to talk about it.

"It was nothing. Ryan's just on his period." Spencer says with a grin.

"That explains some things." He laughs. "Just making sure everything's cool."

I walk into English and sit down next to Brendon who was already there.

"Hey, what do you think about  band?" He asks.

"I'm not really good with wind instruments. But it'd be cool to learn. Why?"

"I've been thinking about trying it. Something to do." He shrugs.

"Do you have any idea what instrument you would play?"

"I was thinking trumpet. It looks fun."

"You can go to the band room after school and ask. I'll go with you if you want."

"I have work right after school. I don't know if I'd be able to get back in time."

"If you really want to, I know a bus stop right next to the school."

"I'll do it if you go with me." He smiles shyly. Damn, that's adorable.

"I can pay for the bus." I smile and turn my head to the front to pay attention to the teacher.

I met with Brendon after the dismissal bell rang.

"Ready?" I ask.

"Let's do this. Where's the band room."

"It's across from the gym. I'll show you."

I lead him to the room that opens with double doors. I open the door for Brendon and walk in behind him.

I've gone to this school for two years now and I've never been inside this room. No wonder people were in band, this place was nice. It was big and open, a black piano right near the entrance.

"Hey guys. You looking to sign up?" The teacher, Mr. Robins, says as he walks out of his small office across the room. He was one of the most laid back teachers at our school. But it really wasn't hard to earn that title.

"Uh, yeah. I was looking into playing the trumpet." Brendon nods.

"Great. Do you have any experience?"

"Well, I play the piano and a little guitar. But I haven't played the trumpet before."

"Well, you can sign up right here. You can use a rented school instrument or get one from a music store." He hands Brendon a clip board with a blue paper on it. Brendon takes the pen attached to the board by a string and scribbles his name and other information.

"You can come tomorrow during first period and we'll have you try it out. See you then." He smiles.

"Thanks, Mr. Robins." I speak up as we walk out the door.

"He seems nice." Brendon says as we walk out of campus.

"Yeah. Oh, here." I take out my wallet and hand him one dollar.

"Aren't you coming with me?" He asks.

"I don't really want to bother you at work."

He rolls his eyes. "You won't be bothering me. Just come and keep me company. I'll make you a smoothie."

"Well, I can't pass up a smoothie."

"No you can't." He grins.

I sit on a metal chair with one leg resting on the other. I was mindlessly staring at Brendon working. He kept humming a Def Leppard song that was playing on the bus. He looks up from the counter to see me staring.

"You want that smoothie? I'm almost done. Wasn't much business today, so it was really just cleaning up."

"Yeah, okay." I nod. I feel a vibration on my leg coming from my pocket. I see "Spencer" and already know what to expect. I click open and I really wasn't surprised by what I read.

'unofficial date???'

'he's working.'

'ik u had 2 be staring at him.' Heat creeps up my cheeks.

'no.'

'lies' I roll my eyes.

'goodbye spencer.'

'goodbye chicken.'

'stop calling me that.'

'u cant tell me what to do.'

'im done texting you goodbye.'

'harsh.'

-A/N: These are getting really short and more horrible. I'm really really sorry. I've been having a little writer's block ever since I finally put up my new story. But thank you for 200 reads, it's kind of small but it's awesome to me.
