The Miracle Child

I kept looking on the clock, hoping the time will move fast but it moved slower than usual. I hate history, I can hear Alaric rambling in the back of my heard about the lesson, I'm not paying attention, I don't want to be in school. I'm drained, mentally and physically. My baby bumb feels heavier by the second.

I have been very moody as of late, at times I have very wierd cravings and I'm craving some ice cubes, I need to have ice right now. I know, it sounds wierd to you but I can't help myself. It is the last period of school and I can't wait to end the day.

I have a habit of either shaking my leg or tapping my fingers on the table anxiously. I concentrated only on the clock, and unfortunately I still have twenty five minutes to go. Bummer!!

"Riley if you want to beat drums you should joing the music classes." I heard Ric say and everyone laughed. "Too loud." He pursed his lips and raised his eyebrows. I simply rolled my eyes at him. I was tapping my fingers on the desk.

After a very long day at school and resting at home, Elena practically dragged me from my bed and had me dressed up elegantly. She did my makeup and forced me to go a party.

"You look beautiful." she complimented.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Can I please stay behind, I don't feel like partying and it's Thursday Elena." I begged her for the gazillionth time.

"I know but I need you to be at this party, it's important that you do." She said, touching up her makeup and a car pulled in our driveway. I looked out the window and it's Stefan. "Let's go." she dragged me by my arm and we went out.

Damon stood holding out the door for Elena with a smirk and Elena rolled her eyes. "Where is Stefan?" she asked.

"He's uh, chasing rubbits for a snack in the woods." he said sarcasm dripping off every word. I couldn't help but chuckle while Elena ignored him completely.

On our way to his house he kept making jokes that I was enjoying and pissing off Elena in the process.

Before I could pull the door handle to his house he stopped me "It's my house so I'll go in first."

"Does it matter?" I asked.

"Yes, but because you are pouting I'll let you walk in first." he said, I wasn't pouting for the record, that's just Damon being Damon. He pushed open the door and as soon as I entered everyone inside shouted 'SURPRISE'. "Surprise lil Gilbert." he said as we all walked further into the house.

The house was extra decorated, I barely come to the Salvatore's house but this time it looks more beautiful than ever, it was filled with purple, pink and clear balloons with sparkles inside of them. Butterfly theme everywhere, and in large letters on the wall wrote 'A butterfly on the way.' It was beautiful. The house was filled with mostly purple decor, everyone was wearing white and Elena made me wear a purple dress to match.

Everyone was here, all my friends and some kids from school. They gave me hugs and kisses and welcomed me. They began playing music and there were lots of baby gifts that I received. Caroline practically bought an entire store. It's funny because I hadn't bought anything for my baby and I don't think I will need to buy anything at all.

Elena silenced everyone to pay attention to her for a moment. "I have one more gift for Riley, the most important one." she said and stood next to me giving me a card.

"What's this?" I asked.

"Open it" I did as she instructed and the letters read 'IT'S A GIRL'

"What do you mean?" I didn't understand how she would know

"I kind of compelled the doctor to make up excuses and not tell you. We wanted to surprise you with the gender reveal of your baby. It's a girl." she jumped up and down. I was made at them for not showing up, and when Elena did, apparently the baby was in a position the doctor couldn't tell. "We kind of ignored you on purpose to shop and well.... plan for this."

I felt emotional all of a sudden, I was having a baby girl. A girl I would call my own, although I don't know who the father is I was still happy and excited to meet her, my daughter. I hugged Elena and Caroline, I thanked them for everything, for the shower, it didn't even cross my mind and yet here I am celebrating the pregnancy of my unborn child. I held my belly and firmly put small circles with my right hand.

While the girls have gone to dance and get drunk, I sat on the chair they put only for me on something a bit higher so that I could seat and watch what was happening in the party.

I felt a hand wipe the tears from my face and I looked up to see Stefan. He gave me a reassuring smile. "Don't cry, tonight is for you to be happy." he said softly. Stefan seems to be there whenever I need someone, he's been there for me more than I can count.

"I'm crying because I'm happy." I said wiping my tears away "I probably look horible."

"Not at all, you still look beautiful even when you are crying." he said and I smiled, he gave me that genuine smile he always gives. He looked to the crowd and saw Elena and Damon very close, their faces were just inches apart like they were going to kiss.

I saw him play with his fingers nervously. "Do you want some cake?" he asked standing up immediately before I could even say no "I'll get you a slice." and he turned on his heals. I don't feel like eating cake right now.
