The Miracle Child

Kate Bush, running up that hill has been playing on repeat in my headphones. For the past month this song has been hitting hard and differently. I was scrolling down my youtube playlist and I stumbled upon it, and ever since then, it has been playing on my phone on repeat after downloading it.

Two months has passed since I learned about supernatural beings. After finding out that I'm pregnant, everyone has been on Riley mission, trying to find out how and who or what got me pregnant. I was surprised to know that Stefan had known all along that I was expecting.

I'm now seven months far long in my pregnancy which means it's not a secrete anymore. Some kids have mad fun of me, but my friends have always had my back to make me feel comfortable.

Right now I'm making myself a salad, I am slicing cucumbers until I accidentally cut myself on my index finger. I quickly put my finger in my mouth to suck in the blood, just an instict.

"Brought pizza" Jenna yelled from the livingroom indicating that she's home.

I leave everything I'm doing and pause my music, walking to her. I find her already cuddled up on the couch. "Thank goodness" I say. I pick up a slice of pizza and join her on the couch. I pick up the remote and press on the 100. "Ready to continue?" I ask Jenna who nodds excitedly, we are in the fourth season of the series.

"I can't wait" she says with some food in her mouth. Before I could press play Elena's text beeps on my phone.

"We won the game, celebration is at the Grill. Meet us there. You promised.!!!"

I roll my eyes and grunt with a deep sigh, tonight was supposed to be a Jenna and Riley time but now I have to ditch her. "It's okay, you can go." she says with a bite of her pizza.

"How did you..." I ask because I didn't tell her about the promise Elena and I made or about the text I just recieved.

"Elena told me about the deal you two made, you refused to go to the game and she made you promise to go to the after party if your school team won." she explained. I didn't want to tell her because I didn't want to make her feel bad, she was so excited about beinge watching our series together. "Besides, I can tell Rick to come over."

"Are you sure?" I ask and she nods. I quickly text Elena telling her I'd be there and go up to my room to change. I look at my finger which I had cut myself and it was completely healed. This is the second time I have hurt myself and magically healed.

The Grill is packed, with the school team being here for their celebration of their victory and it being a friday you can hardly find the people you are looking for. I stand at the door scaning the room for my friends until I see my baby brother running to me. "Hey Ri, everyone is sitting in the back of the room." he shouts over the loud music.

I nod and he holds my hand and drags me to where they are. Jeremy treats me like I'm the younger one. "Hey" Elena shouts giving me a juice. "Healthy glass for the soon to be mom." she says and they toast to that. I roll my eyes instead.

Stefan places a hand on my shoulder squeezing a bit as a gesture of greeting me. I simply smile at him, a tipsy Caroline drags me to the chair. As I sit I watch the movements going on, Bonnie, Elena and Care have all gone to the dance floor, they look like they started drinking about a while now.

They all danced with their boyfriends, Bonnie and Jeremy and Care and Tyler. Elena is dancing with Matt because Stefan refused to.

"I'm sorry we haven't been able to help you." Stefan says, but I shake my head.

"Whatever happened to me is not any of your fault and to be honest, I'm low key scared to find out what really happened to me. Your world scares me." I say and he faces down without uttering a word.

When he looks up at me "You don't have to be scared of anything, I will always be here to protect you. I promise." he says. It makes me feel better, and even though in the past month I haven't been experiencing my paranoia. I haven't seen the creepy blond guy in a month which makes me feel safe.

"Thank you."

"Would you like to dance?" he asks and I arc an eyebrow "Come on, I also don't know how to dance but we can try." he stood up and pulled me onto the stage. He lied about not knowing how to dance, I have seen him and Elena dance on several ocassions.

When we get there, the song changes; That's what love is, by Alexandra Kay starts to play "I guess now I just have to step on your toes" I said sarcastically and he laughed. We slow danced to the song as did everyone on the dance floor. The song reminded me of times I would cry myself to sleep afraid of what people would think of me when they found out I was pregnant, but it also reminded me of the times I have spent with my family and friends, the good moments we shared together.

After dancing for so long, Stefan spins me around and brings me closer to his chest as a tear drops down my cheek and the song comes to an end. He places a hand on my cheek and wipes the tear out with his thumb and brings me into a hug.
