"Okey everyone, quiet on set please."
A black and white clapboard is held in front of the camera. "An Interview in the dark, day one, take one, aand action!" The crew member announces while clapping the prop and moves out of frame, revealing a pale, slender, blond man wearing old fashioned clothing sitting cross legged in an antique floral patterned armchair.
"Please introduce yourself to the camera." The interviewer asks from behind the camera.
"Oh, that is not such an easy task you have given me, my less afflicted kin," he adds, left eyebrow rising and the corners of his mouth lifting in an unnatural way, like strings pulling them.
"You see, I go by many names; The Devil of Divinity, Prince of Darkness, Emperor of Shadows, Master of the Unholy, Guru of all Gardens! The list goes on really." He announces, albow propped on top of the recliner and a lazy white hand swinging back and forth.
"I will give you permission to refer to me by my common name though. It's Seonghwa, Park Seonghwa.""Can you tell us a little about yourself?" The Interviewer Inquires.
"Why yes of course, that is why i am here after all, is it not?" The invisible strings seems to pull even further at his mouth this time.
"I'm the head of this house," He gestures with a broad sweeping arm movement, as if to signal that all you see here belongs to him.
"And what exactly does that entail?"
"It means that I'm the one in charge of keeping this old thing up and running. It's an awfully old house you know. Victorian, 1846 to be exact, she requires a lot of care." His dangling hand falls limp on the armrest; a deep sigh leaves his pale lips. "Unfortunately, that also means I'm in charge of the four putrid, snot-eating, bumbling idiots also living in this house."
As if on cue right after insulting his housemates, a loud bang is heard directly above their heads, followed by a grunt, a whirring motor sound and then a screech akin to that of a squealing pig. Little white dust and paint particles, almost resembling snow, slowly descent from the ceiling and lands on the 'Prince of Darkness' hair and shoulders. The pale man's umber eyes turn up to where the weird noise came from, and then straight in to the camera, the unmistakable emotion of disappointment clear in them. It's almost like they're proving his point.
"I pray every day that someone will end my suffering.""Do you want to tell the audience what we're doing here?"
"I suppose that would be for the best, yes. You're here because i have allowed you to follow us around with that big recording thing over the next year. Probably to document how we live our night to night lives, what we eat, where we sleep etcetera, etcetera." The interviewee replies, a rather bored expression evident on his smooth stone-like face, blond hair falling over his sharp eyes. The little sigh that comes from behind the camera manages to reach the overhead microphone, making the feelings of the camera crew very apparent. This is going to be a very long year.
"And why exactly are we making a documentary about you guys?" He presses on.
"Ah," Seonghwa scoots to the edge of his recliner and looks directly in to the lens. His umber eyes squinting in amusement and superiority. "Well that is simple, my little meat bags. Because we are vampires!"
AAAAAND SCENE! This concludes the very first chapter of my very first book. This is heavily inspired by the TV show 'what we do in the shadows', so if you havn't waatched it and you're a little confused after reading this, let me explain. It's basically like the Office or the Kardashians but with vampires. I'ts a fake documentary style (a mockumentary if you will), so from now on when i write i cursive it means they are being interviewed/giving commentary. When the writing is not in cursive, you have to imagine that they are being filmed while just going about their day (or rather night, haha) The first couple of chapters will be introductions to the cast members.
See you next chapter suckers!
