Leyla's P.O.V
We had been flying to the northern part of the mountains to check out the distress cry that we had heard. We landed on a huge block of packed ice and I saw a flash of blue, purple, and white, I jumped off of Summer's saddle and walked over to the ice to investigate. "Uh... hey guys? I think there's a dragon trapped in the ice. Hey Aggro, can you please melt the ice?" I asked the fire dragon. She nodded her head and with a deep breath, she started melting the ice that was encasing the dragon inside. "I wonder what kind of dragon is stuck in there?" Summer wondered as she came over and stood next to me as we all watched Aggro continue to melt the ice. It took a while but the dragon was finally freed from her Icy prison. She blinked rapidly and shook out her black-and-white wings to dislodge the ice that still clung to them. "Thank you so much for saving me." She said with a relieved smile on her face. "No problem at all!" I said with a wide smile on forming on my face. "It's kind of our job y'know, we're the Rescue Riders and we well... you know, rescue people." Winger replied with a flick of his tail and a nod of his head to the rest of us. "Wow! That's so cool! It's a pleasure to meet you all." The Lovewing said with a shy smile and a small pink blush tinting her cheeks as she stared at Winger. "I'm Leyla, and this is my brother Dak." I told the Lovewing. "And these are our friends: Winger, Summer, Cutter, Burple, and Aggro." I introduced the others. "U-Um h-hi, m-my n-name's H-Hinata." She said with a sincere smile and a nod of her head in greeting. "It's nice to meet you too, Hinata." I replied back. "So you're a Lovewing?" Winger asked and Hinata slowly nodded her head with a small blush forming on her face. "Y-Yes, yes I-I am, Winger." She looked down and avoided eye contact.
Suddenly without any warning, the young Lovewing collapsed to the ground with a soft thud. We all panicked and I jumped on Summer's saddle and she carefully clutched the small dragon in her webbed claws. "Ok everyone back to the roost!" Winger yelled as the dragons unfurled their wings and took to the sky. The light was fading by the time we could see anything other than waving grass. The lowering sun in the west tinted the sky a dusky orange, and the trees of the small forest clearing ahead of us was casting long shadows.
Summer's P.O.V
As we were flying back to the roost, I noticed that Winger kept looking at the young dragon that was tucked safely in my claws. And when I looked over at him, I would see a hint of red on his face. Was he blushing? I frowned and studied Winger's movements more closely as we were approaching the roost. As we landed outside of the entrance to the sleep cave, I could feel someone watching me from behind. I shook my head at the thought as I kept a close eye on our new arrival. A hay nest was soon made for the dragon and with the help of Leyla and Aggro, we gently set her down into it. A small smile formed on her face and her ears slowly twitched at the sound of our voices. Could she hear us? Did she know what had happened to her? These thoughts kept racing through my mind like a raging tempest as I walked over to my own hey bed and laid down to take a short nap.
I awoke sometime later and the sound of laughing dragons filled the empty silence as I gave my wings and paws a good long stretch. I yawned and rubbed my eyes with my paws. I then patted out of the sleep cave and out into the morning light of the sun. I had forgotten that it had been nighttime when we had found that black-and-white dragoness. I felt my tail twitching in response to my nervousness as I went over to sit beside Leyla, who was writing down notes in her diary. "Do you know anything else about this Lovewing dragon yet?" I asked her. Leyla looked up from what she was doing to look up at me with a small frown and a shake of her head. "Unfortunately not. I just can't think of any dragon that even comes close to what the dragon that we found looks like." She told me. I took a seat beside her in the grass and we just sat there in silence for quite some time. "Is there anything I can do to help?" I asked her. She sighed softly and shook her head. "Nope not this time, Sum. I'm sorry but maybe next time." I nodded and watched as Leyla closed the book and put it back inside her purse.
Winger's P.O.V
It was late at night and everyone was fast asleep. But I couldn't sleep, so I decided to check on the young female dragon that we had found earlier that day. As I sat there watching her, I couldn't help but stare in pure amazement. Her jet black scales glowed silver in the small ray of moonlight that was peaking through the crack in the wooden door. Her pure white underbelly shimmered like freshly falling snow, her tail was draped neatly over her white noes and her head was resting comfortably on her small paws. I watched with bated breath as her ears began twitching in her sleep, and after a few seconds, they stopped and her ears pricked straight up and her eyes slowly began to open. I could feel my face start to grow warm as a pair of bright blue eyes the color of ice stared directly into my neon yellow eyes.
I gulped nervously as I tried to find my voice. But the words got stuck in my throat. This dragon was the most beautiful dragon in the universe. "H-Hello. I'm Winger, what's your name?" I managed to squeak. The black-and-white dragon giggled softly and smiled up at me with a toothless grin.
"You wanna know something, Winger?"
I blinked and nodded my head. "Yes, yes of course! What is it you wanted to tell me?"
Hinata blushed and ducked her head. "W-Well... I-I uh... I really like you. Like r-really l-like you. And I was wondering... do you want to be my mate?" My jaw dropped open and my eyes grew wide in shock at what Hinata had just told me.
