A couple of days have passed and I still don't know how or when to tell her. I'll just do it.I walked over to Mabel, who was sitting on a blanket on the ground near the campfire watching stars. "Hey." I said, sitting next to her.
"Hi." She replied quietly.
"Um... I have to tell you something.." I fumbled with my sweaty hands.
"Yes?" Her gaze still upon the stars.
"The real reason we are camping out is-" I couldn't finish. There was a huge lump in my throat. She is going to hate me for lying.
"Is?" She asked now looking at me.
I swallowed, nervously. "You died." I spat out.
Silence.
"You died while we were running from Bill and it was my fault a-and I made a deal with him so you could come back!" I wanted to cry, I felt so awful.
She looked at me. "You what?" She said with some force.
"I-I.." I started to say.
"Dipper, I can't believe you would do that!! I thought you were stronger than this!! I thought you learned your lesson from last time!!" She yelled. "What did you trade him for?"
I looked down. "My life.."
She looked at me surprised and then started crying.
I put my hand on her shoulder but she swatted it away forcefully. "Don't touch me!" She said with disgust and stood up and went inside the tent.
Tears burned my cheeks as I watched the campfire as it died out, kind of like me.
Bill comes tomorrow.
