"Hey, Ma. Have you seen Sis around here?" Young Matt asked his mother. Reading a book, she puts it down to face her son.
"Sorry, sweetheart, I haven't. You remembered that today's her birthday, right?" Matt's mother reminded Matt, putting the book back up to her face.
"I know. I got her a present. Where do you think I should put it?" Matt asked his mother.
"Her room. I'm sure she'll see it." Matt's mother suggested.
"Thanks, Ma." Matt thanked his mother for the suggestion as he left his mother to read her book.
'Sis is gonna be so happy. I wonder what she'll say when she sees it. Maybe I should hide in her closet to see her reaction when she gets back.' Matt thought to himself as he walked toward Felia's room. He paused as he heard what he thought at the time were ghost noises.
'Ghosts? No way. Maybe Sis is home. Maybe now I can give Sis her present.' Matt smiled as he waltzed into the room, not thinking to knock.
"Hey, Sis. Happy... birth... day." Matt's words slowed to a stop as he realized he walked in on something he wasn't supposed to see.
"UGH! Fel! Don't you ever knock?!" Felia shouted as she hid her body and the guy she had over under the sheets.
"Sorry, I just... really wanted to give you your birthday prese--" Matt's words were interrupted as Felia took the tiny box Matt had in his hand and threw it toward the wall, giving less than a damn about it.
"Can't you see I'm busy? And how many times have I told you not to come in my room?! How many times have I told you to knock?!" Felia shouted at Matt for his forgetfulness.
"Ugh! Why do I have such a twerp for a little brother?!" Felia scoffed, rolling her eyes as she pointed toward the door. Matt sniffled as he walked toward the door, making sure to close it behind him.
'I guess she didn't like my present.' Matt sniffled some more before running off somewhere in the house to sob in silence. Little does he know that this is the first of many more encounters like this to come.
'Do you remember that?' A voice asked Matt.
'Yeah, I remember that.' Matt answered the voice.
'She threw your gift aside without even a second thought. Sex with this guy was way more important to her than the gift you had gotten her.' The voice said to Matt.
'I mean... I did forget to knock...' Matt replied, trying to give Felia the benefit of the doubt.
'Are you seriously trying to defend her here? This is just the first, Matt. Your parents work hard to send you to school to train your Demon, only for you to be overshadowed by your sister.' The voice told Matt.
'Being bullied and kids often picking fights with you, just because your power wasn't as Potent. But look at you now. You've proved everyone, including me, wrong. Look at how strong you've become.
But it's not enough.
Surely you've recognized that little red ball at the back of your mind. Go to it.' The voice requested of Matt.
Matt did as the voice told him to and walked toward the little red ball in the distance. But as he got closer to it, he began to realize how large this red ball was to scale.
'Hey, Matt. You ever heard the phrase, 'fly to close to the sun and you'll get burned?' Yeah, you might wanna just stop right here.' The voice told him.
'What is this?' Matt asked the voice.
'This, my friend, is all of your anger, sadness, and all of those negative emotions you've experienced all through your life. That memory you relived was the first negative emotion that this entire ball stemmed off of.' The voice told him.
