chapter four !

As Juniper inhaled deeply, standing right behind her, Coriolanus became aware of her behaviour.

June was startled by the doors slamming, and all of the arena's windows were now open.

The arena's interior was illuminated, glowing.

" Welcome to the arena of the tenth annual of the hunger games. Tributes, Mentors. You have fifteen minutes to explore the space and talk to one another."

June was already aware of her surroundings. Although there was plenty of space for everyone in the large environment, some of the tributes were itching for a twist.

"Hey, lumberjack!" A tribute called from the other side. Treech turned to his partner and signaled, "Come on."

The tribute noticed, "No, no." She shook her head at him, "Just you." She smiled a chilling grin.

June and Coriolanus watched as the some tributes began to turn on their teammates ever so quickly.

They both shared a look — Coriolanus looking down and Juniper looking up.

June didn't really prepare for socialising with her partner during the games. But, if she wanted to win she had to have some allies.

It would be best to start off with someone familiar opposed to a total stranger who could easily turn on her.

June studies the tributes, keeping an eye out for Jessup. "What's your plan?" Coriolanus asks as he watches June figure out what to do.

"Create alliances." She says with a straight face. She doesn't bother to turn to him, she keeps observing them.

"Wow. Very smart." He says smugly, folding his arms. Juniper raises an eyebrow, "And what's that supposed to mean?" She slowly turns her head to him.

Coriolanus laughs to himself, "I just thought you would have come up with a more complicated idea." He shrugs his shoulders.

Her brows furrowed, "Because I'm a complicated person?" She asks now slightly agitated.

"Absolutely." He grins sarcastically, trying to annoy her more. In which he was successful in doing so.

"Well I don't see you competing. Do I." Juniper replied now giving her full attention to him.

"But then again, only the strongest can survive." Juniper grins and smiles at him. Coriolanus laughs, shaking his head at her.

Silence was heard once again between them. "Coriolanus." Juniper speaks up and he is quick to respond, "Yes?"

"Please don't let me die in here." She pleads, her eyes saying it all. The looks at him, with genuine concern. Her tough act was soon to disappear once she fully took in the consequences of these games.

She could not die in here. So if Coriolanus promised her that he'd make sure she would come out alive. Then at least there was hope for that.

Before he could talk, an explosion went off making the two fall back. The ground started to rumble and crack. Some pieces of the ground even began to collapse onto people.

And one of those people where Coriolanus. As the two tried to run, he managed to get stuck under a piece of concrete. "Juniper!" He cried out on the ground.

June noticed and was quick to move, she fell to the ground to help her mentor. "Coryo!" She tried her hardest to remove to piece.

It was heavy, real heavy. But, if this happened during the game — it would not be one of the most intense things to happen.

She finally had been able to pull the concrete off him. "Coryo." She pulled him up and hugged him tightly. "Are you okay?" June checked up on him, searching for any injuries.

"Yeah, yeah." He sighs taking in the incident. Everything was happening to fast and with the tributes were being shot or injured, it made it worse.

"Thank you." Coriolanus replied, his breath being shaky. All of sudden, Juniper was being dragged away by the peacekeepers, "Coryo!" She cried wanting to help him.

Luckily, the peacekeepers and medics were there to help him out and get to safety. She felt so helpless not being able to help him out.

After all he was supposed to be the once guiding her not the other way around.

these quick chapter are much better to write opposed to writing long chapters. only because i'm able to create the scene better with the shorter chapters instead of writing different time frames in the once chapter.
