Anna, David, John, Mary, and Peter were among the few survivors of the zombie outbreak that had ravaged the Solomon Islands. They had managed to escape the infected hordes and find refuge in Honiara, the capital city. They lived in an abandoned hotel, scavenging for food and supplies, and avoiding any contact with the outside world.
One day, they decided to explore the city, hoping to find some useful items or other survivors. They armed themselves with makeshift weapons and set out cautiously. They walked along the deserted streets, passing by the decaying corpses of zombies and humans alike. They saw no signs of life, except for some rats and crows.
They reached the central market, where they hoped to find some canned goods or bottled water. They entered the building, which was dark and silent. They split up and searched the stalls, looking for anything edible. They found some expired snacks, some moldy fruits, and some dusty bottles of soda. They stuffed them in their backpacks, feeling a pang of hunger.
They were about to leave the market when they heard a loud noise. It sounded like a gunshot, followed by a scream. They froze in fear, wondering if it was a trap or a rescue. They ran towards the source of the sound, hoping for the best.
They reached the other side of the market, where they saw a shocking sight. A group of people, dressed in animal skins and furs, were attacking a zombie with spears and axes. They looked like they had stepped out of the last glacial period, with their pale skin, long hair, and primitive weapons. They were shouting in a language that the survivors could not understand.
The zombie fell to the ground, its head split open. The group cheered and danced around the corpse, celebrating their victory. They did not notice the survivors, who were hiding behind a pile of crates. The survivors watched them in awe and fear, wondering who they were and where they came from.
They decided to stay quiet and observe them, hoping to learn more about them. They saw that the group had a campfire, a tent, and some bags of meat and bones. They seemed to be living in the market, using it as a shelter and a hunting ground. They also saw that the group had a leader, a tall man with a beard and a fur cloak. He was holding a rifle, which he had used to shoot the zombie.
The survivors wondered how he had obtained the rifle, and why he was living like a caveman. They wondered if he was a survivor like them, or a madman who had lost his mind. They wondered if they should approach him and ask for help, or avoid him and leave the market. They wondered if he was friendly or hostile, and what he would do if he saw them. They wondered if they had stumbled upon a new ally or a new enemy. They wondered what secrets he was hiding, and what dangers he was facing. They wondered what would happen next.'''
