Chapter 1

In Fort Worth Texas lived five little five year olds. They all lived their with their families. Each of their families were very unique. Each of them were unique as well. They were all different in some ways and in other ways they were the same. They didn't know each other yet but they would soon know each other.

Hot shot Flamezer is one of these five kids. Hot shot lives with his parents Heatwave and Quickshadow. His father Heatwave is a firefighter and is very good at his job. His mother Quickshadow is a pediatric oncologist at Cook Children's and is very helpful and kind. Hot shot is a very good little boy and very active and playful too. Hot shot loves to ride his trike, he loves to roller skate, he loves to ride his scooter, he loves to run, jump, climb, play, and do sports. He also loves Pokemon, animals and baking with his mother and grandmother. He also loves to go to the fire station where his father works. Hot shot was unaware of the big change that was about to happen in his life and he also didn't know he was going to make four life long friends too.

Hoist Towver is another one of these kids. Hoist lives with his parents Towlaunch and Linecross. His father Towlaunch owns a tow truck company. While his mother Linecross is stay at home mom. Hoist also has quadruplet toddler siblings who are 2 years old. Two of them are boys and the other two are girls. Their names are Hookcatch, Lineway, Towout and Truckstop. They are playful and wonderful. Hoist gets along with his four younger siblings. They really look up to him. Hoist is kind, smart and shy. Hoist loves to make things with his hand, he loves to ride his trike, he loves to run, jump, climb, and play. He also loves Pokemon, animals, and to draw. Hoist didn't know of the big change that was about to happen in his life and he also didn't know he was going to make four life long friends as well.

Medix Redden is also one of these kids. Medix lives with his uncle Ratchet who was his father's brother. Medix lost both of his parents in a car accident one day when Ratchet was baby sitting him on a day off when he was three years old. Ratchet works as surgeon at Cook Children's and he does his best for his nephew. Medix is very smart, kind, loving and logical. Medix loves to play doctor or veterinarian with his toys and stuffed animals, he loves to ride his trike, he loves to run, jump climb and play. He also loves Pokemon, animals, and to listen to stories. Medix didn't know of big change that was about to happen to him very soon, and he didn't know he was going to make four very good life long friends during that time too.

Whirl Windal is one of these kids as well. Whirl lives with her parents Skyspot and Airlift. Her father Skyspot is a stay at home dad. Her mother Airlift works as a helicopter paramedic for Cook Children's hospital. Whirl is kind, playful and energetic. Whirl loves to play police officer, she loves to ride her trike, she loves to run, jump, climb and play. She also loves Pokemon, animals and to play board games. Whirl was totally unaware of the big change that was about to happen in her life and she also didn't know that she was going to make some very good life long friends too.

Wedge Shoveler is the last of these five kids. Wedge lives with his Dugout and Paintbrush and three older brothers. Dugout his father is a construction foreman. His mother Paintbrush is an interior designer. His older brothers are Heavyload, Gridlock and Hightower. Wedge gets along well with his brothers. They all play very nicely together. Wedge is strong, kind and playful. Wedge loves to build things with blocks, he loves to ride his trike, he loves to run, jump, climb and play. He also loves Pokemon, animals and loves construction toys.  Wedge was unaware of the change that was about to happen to him and he didn't know he was about to make four life long best friends too.

Life for these five families were going well. All five of them were happy and enjoying their lives. But in a heartbeat things can change. Because life is unexpected.

It was in late December when it all began to change. 

Hot shot noticed he wasn't feeling well at all. Hot shot was wondering what was wrong. He just had this horrible headache. This headache was like an intense pressure it was like his head was a giant fizzy bottle. Hot shot's headache wasn't going away either. Hot shot was also getting sick often, especially in the morning. Hot shot was also showing to be getting very cranky and upset over the slightest of things. Hot shot's right leg wasn't moving in sync with his left leg. Hot shot just seemed to be getting worse and worse. His worried parents decided to take him to see his doctor.  Dr. Erret his pediatrician examined Hot shot and had a feeling something very serious was going on. "Take Hot shot to Cook Children's to get an MRI right now, they are waiting for you," Dr. Erret said. So they headed for Cook Children's hospital.
