Chapter 6

The meeting at 0900 went over what was going on. Fives, Tup, Kix, Boil, Waxer and Longshot were called aside to discuss the mercy mission, along with Ahsoka. Eryn had spoken with Ahsoka, saying she would defer to her on the field because of her battle experience.

The LAAT would try to drop them off at the capitol so they can get the citizens out. Ahsoka, Fives, Boil and Waxer would lead the group, scouting ahead for any droids in the tunnels. Eryn, Kix, Tup and Longshot would watch the rear.

Obi-Wan, along with Anakin and Ki-Adi-Mundi, would converge together from different flanks to surround the enemy. Luckily, Master Mundi had been able to prevent the Separatists from getting entrenched in the capitol.

Obi-Wan walked Eryn to her LAAT. "Wayseeker Eryn, may the force be with you." She smiles at him. "And with you as well, Master Kenobi."

The LAAT began its descent into the capitol. Some anti-air guns had hit one of the engines, but the pilot was able to land it without too much fuss. Once on the ground, Ahsoka called out orders. Citizens are huddled around, trying to hide from everyone. With Eryn and Ahsoka, they were able to coax people to follow them to the tunnels.

As Fives, Boil and Waxer neared the tunnels, they found more citizens, some wounded. Kix comes forward with Eryn to figure out who was in critical condition as Fives scouted ahead. Everyone came together to help the wounded to get further into the tunnels.

Fives calls back, saying some clankers were spotted in the mountain entrance. Ahsoka and the rest of the troopers minus Kix went ahead to take the enemy out while Eryn helped Kix tend to the citizens.

A lot of the citizens were women and children, and elderly. Many men went to try and defend the capitol, with some being whipped out. Eryn felt for these people. They never asked for this war, and now they suffered.

Suddenly, they heard fire at the entrance of the tunnel. Eryn got up and ignited her blades, telling citizens to start heading toward the mountains. Kix grabbed his gun in time for battle droids to appear around a corner. Both he and Eryn defended their post, dropping droids left and right. Longshot and Tup came down the tunnel, firing on the droids.

Eryn focused on the present, and on the citizens, giving her strength to take out as many droids as possible. Once the threat was neutralized, they continued to ferry citizens out. Eryn called forward to Ahsoka.

"Commander Tano, how is the mountain entrance? Are we safe to bring the people?" Her comm chirped and Ahsoka responded. "Yes. All clear, bring them up."

Eryn helped an elderly man with a bum leg head towards the end of the tunnels. As they reached the end, there was a large gallery off to the side for the people to hunker down. The troopers began to hand out ration bars and give sips of water from their canteens.

Eryn, Ahsoka and Fives regrouped off to the side. Eryn speaks first. "We'll need to keep an eye on the tunnel, as battle droids did enter after us. We were able to put them down, but they may send more." Ahsoka comm'd over to Anakin to see how the three pronged attack was going.

"We have converged, and are making headway, but we do not have the capitol yet. Stay with the citizens until you hear back from us. We'll try to send some LAATs to the mountain entrance."

Eryn turned to Fives, Waxer and Boil. "Can you three keep watch for those LAATs as we get the people ready for evacuation? The troopers' "Yes Sir" and salute were followed by them running toward the tunnel exit.

Eryn turned to the citizens, holding out her hands. "Please listen. We are going to evacuate you away from the city, to lessen casualties. Please help each other onto the LAATs and stay together. Once the droid army is driven out, we'll return you to the capitol with troopers to help with relief efforts."

The citizens began to head toward the exit when more droids turned a corner within the tunnel. Eryn and Ahsoka began blocking the droids' fire while Longshot and Tup began sending droid poppers out.

As the other troopers get the citizens on board the LAATs, Eryn and Ahsoka begin to retreat back. They both jump onto the last transport and fly away to the Resolute. There, medics are able to help the wounded.

Ahsoka contacts Anakin and is told they need help on the attack. Ahsoka looks to Eryn. "I know your stance on the war, but we could really use your help. Will you come with me?"

Eryn takes a moment, closing her eyes and breathing deep. She feels the force pull her toward the LAATs and she smiles at Ahsoka. "After you, Commander."

Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ki-Adi-Mundi lead their battalions toward the capitol in a three-pronged attack. As they converge together, they are able to wipe out a lot of droids, but more seem to fill their place.

Pilots are able to spot a Separatists supply ship entering the atmosphere, and call down for orders. Anakin answers. “You'll need to take that ship out before it gets to the capitol, or else this battle is lost.”

Anakin comms Ahsoka before her and Eryn board a LAAT. “Ahsoka, you'll need to lead a squad of fighters to that supply ship and take it out.”

Ahsoka looks at Eryn before replying. “Understood, Master.” She heads toward her Jedi Starfighter. “Head down to the front, I'm going to lead this squad.” Eryn nods and boards the LAAT with the troops from the earlier mission.

As they fly down to the front, Fives asks Eryn, “How are you doing, Commander?” Eryn corrects him. “I'm not a commander. But to answer your question, I'm doing okay. This is only my second battle against the Separatists.” The other troopers, especially Waxer and Boil, give each other a look.

Fives tries to keep the mood light. “It was bound to happen, you joining the fun. Let's kill some clankers!” The doors of the LAAT open up and everyone jumps out. They have to run half a klick before they reach where the Jedi masters have set up a command center.

Obi-Wan is surprised, but happy to see Eryn.
He asks her how the mercy mission went. “Good, Master Kenobi, we got the citizens out and got the wounded up on the Resolute.” Obi-Wan nods.

Ki-Adi-Mundi looks at Anakin. “How is Padawan Tano doing with the fighters?” Anakin comms Ahsoka, who says they have engaged the enemy. Master Mundi recommends waiting until they have confirmation the supply ship is destroyed before pressing the attack.

Anakin pulls Eryn aside to speak with her. “I heard you will be apprenticing with Obi-Wan for a short bit. I hope he is able to help you with your grief.” Eryn looks at Anakin in surprise, but smiles. “I hope so too.”

Anakin gives her a stern look. “Make sure you have his back. He is obviously a skilled warrior, but sometimes he needs saving. Promise me you'll watch his back.” Eryn can feel the fierce determination from Anakin's force signature, and she nods.

“I promise, Anakin, I will always watch Obi-Wan's back.” Anakin gives her a look before nodding and patting her on the back, a smile on his face. “Welcome to the family, Wayseeker.”

It takes a couple of days, but the clone army is able to break through the Separatists line in front of the capitol. Ahsoka and the fighters take out the supply ship, preventing more droids from overrunning the Republic forces.

Eryn stays behind to watch over wounded soldiers. She is not adept in force healing, but she thinks she might want to pursue that further. When they are able to break through the line, the army presses their advantage.

After they are in the capitol, Ki-Adi-Mundi's 21st Nova Corp remained to help with relief efforts, as Obi-Wan and Anakin were called off to another battle. They stop at a Republic base for resupply and head off.
