Hanni paused at the Eggnoid's words and turned her head in disbelief. "What?" She asked, wanting Minji to repeat her question.
The air was silent. Hanni let out a chuckle, thinking that it was all in her mind. Who was she kidding? Of course, Minji wouldn't say that. She was asleep.
However, right as Hanni tried to stand up again, she was pulled back even harder. The girl blinked and widened her eyes at the action. She felt her hips staying in place as she tried to move, held by a pair of hands. Her breathing became heavier and although she didn't want to admit it, butterflies were filling her stomach.
Hanni gulped and turned her head to look at the culprit. "Minji, I need to go to bed."
The girl behind slowly opened her eyes. Hanni furrowed her eyebrows when she saw how teary Minji's eyes were. "Hey, hey, hey, what's wrong?" She quickly asked, turning her body to cup the girl's face and using her thumb to wipe her tears.
"Stay, please." Minji held one of Hanni's hands, holding it in place.
The sight was weakening Hanni, but there was no reason for Minji to get upset for not being able to sleep with Hanni. The couch was a comfortable place to sleep in, after all. And yes, the two of them might've shared a bed twice, but Hanni put a limit to that action when she realised that she was getting more attached to the robot. As much as she wanted to be with Minji, she simply needed to distance herself away from her.
She couldn't get attached to a robot.
Not for the second time.
Hanni could only sigh, "Minji, we talked about this-"
Soon, she was cut off by Minji who switched their positions, pinning Hanni onto the couch's backrest. Minji held the girl so tightly in place to the point where moving was simply impossible. The Eggnoid's tired eyes were now piercing through Hanni's flesh, although a hint of desperation was evident. Meanwhile, the human was still frozen at what was happening. Such an action was so unexplainably unexpected. She wasn't expecting Minji to get this aggressive with her, especially not when she'd been such an innocent soul.
Wait, did she just say soul? Eggnoids have no such thing. . . Right?
"Hanni ah," Minji started with a trembling voice. "Do you. . . not like me?" The enraged look was no longer visible in her eyes, replaced by a broken one.
Her question didn't seem to have made it into Hanni's head. What was Minji saying? "What are-"
Minji cut her off, "Why have you been ignoring me all day?" A tear ran down her cheek but was quickly wiped away when she noticed it.
Hanni blinked at her question. She didn't know how to respond, but Minji didn't give her time to do so either. "W- what did I do wrong? Please just tell me, I'll fix it." Minji begged.
Was this a prank? Thought Hanni. Never in her life had so many emotions and thoughts crossed her mind all at once. She'd never seen this side of Minji. Sure, the Eggnoid had always presented herself as a sensitive and innocent baby, but a desperate one? It was new. Both to Hanni and Minji herself.
The Eggnoid didn't know why she was acting the way she was. She just felt the urge to be the perfect Eggnoid for her owner -- she needed to be. There was no way that she could handle being ignored by Hanni for another speaking device. A flat screen with moving pictures of a blonde girl whom Hanni was speaking with, instead of Minji. She felt envious, knowing that her owner was clearly far more interested in the other device than her.
One of Eggnoids' greatest skill is their brain capacity, having unlocked 67% of the maximum brain potential and capacity -- whereas humans could only use up to 30% of their brain capacity; ordinary people, of course. This meant that Eggnoids' brains work more efficiently than humans' do, and by 'working efficiently', it means that their brains are constantly transmitting and processing pieces of information at the speed of light. This allows thoughts and emotional information to process all at once, and just like children, Minji was getting overwhelmed by such a crowded brain. She'd been holding this moment back in for hours, so was it really wrong to ask for an explanation?
