After your brief conversation with Laurence, you speedily made your way to your next class, history. As you gently pushed open the door to your classroom, you noticed a blue haired girl and Garroth arguing under their breath. Garroth seemed much more able to keep quiet, however, as you could hear snippets of her side of the conversation.

"I'm just saying that if one more girl gets hurt.."

"What do you mean he's 'not like that.'"

"I'm just saying Aphmau should be careful-"

You cut off their conversation, passing by the blue haired girl to sit behind her. You knew Garroth of course, everyone did. The girl sitting in front of you was not a familiar face but didn't seem to be as enraptured by Garroth as the other girls were. You didn't have much time to dwell on this mysterious girl, as your history teacher, Mrs. Atkinson entered the room. She didn't stand much taller than most students at five foot four and wore a light pink t-shirt under a white cardigan with jeans. She talked briefly about the upcoming test and told your class that you would all be assigned a project with your elbow partner. Looking over, you notice that your partner is not beside you.

"Alright students, get to work!" She exclaims. She soon realizes that you are on your own, "Why don't you work with Katelyn and Garroth since they both sit in front of you?" You looked around for the two, spotting them at a table near the back of the classroom. Garroth, charming as ever, raised his hand to wave at you, while Katelyn looked at you with an indifferent expression on her face. You walked over to them, nervous, and sat down quickly. Katelyn begins to explain to you the details of the project, and much to your surprise, you both had a good conversation going. That was until Garroth interjected.

"I didn't know you liked volleyball too! We should totally play together sometime-"

"Yea, you look really athletic." You couldn't tell if Garroth was making fun of you or if he was being genuine. "Oh haha, not really. Like, at all. But I still enjoy playing sports with the right people."

An unfamiliar voice behind you spoke, "Oh, really? Is that why you tried so hard today in PE with Laurence?" You quickly whipped your head around to see a purple haired meifwa girl behind you. She snickered at the embarrassed look on your face, before returning to her partner. As you looked back at Katelyn and Garroth, who both suddenly looked much more interested in you.

"Laurence, huh?" Garroth smiled, while Katelyn had a slightly annoyed look on her face. Is this why Katelyn hadn't cared about Garroth? She was crushing on Laurence? Your eyes swung between the two, trying to get a read on their current feelings before realizing that you had to answer Garroth's question. "O-oh uhm! No, it's more like.. Uh.. a friendly rivalry. We're not close or anything.." you trailed off at the end after you stumbled through those short sentences. Katelyn raised an eyebrow at you, "..Really? Most girls usually fall head over heels for a guy like him." You flushed at the statement, but Garroth continued to give momentum to the current discussion, "I didn't know you liked Laurence so much, wounds me a little to know he's already gotten to you." You felt like you were about to pass out, how could Garroth be saying this to you of all people? Did he really... care about your feelings for him? While trapped in your own thoughts, Garroth laughs. This breaks you from your current spiral, realizing that he had just been kidding. Of course you would get ahead of yourself like that, but also how dare Garroth tease you like that!

"It's not like I actually care about him or anything."

"It's not like they actually care about him or anything."

You and Katelyn both said at the same time. Making eye contact, you both laughed. Garroth huffed, "I'll be sure to tell Laurence he's lost one of his many fans then." Before the three of you could continue your conversation, Mrs. Atkinson made sure you were all on-track with the project before you. Realizing that you all hadn't done very much since that purple haired girl arrived - named Michi, according to Garroth - it was time to cram the rest of your studies into the final twenty minutes of your class period. Tired, both from PE and the rushed studying, led to you waving goodbye to Katelyn and Garroth before they headed off to their next classes. With fifth period as your resource, you thought it would be good to take a quick nap before lunch began.
