Sam, as usual, left her apartment around 5:20 pm. When she switched on her car radio, she was surprised to hear Reese's voice coming through the speakers, and it nearly caught her off guard.

Why is she so early on air?

She thought that perhaps Reese had been called in to cover for a colleague who had fallen ill. Sam speculated that they might have partied too hard the previous day.

Upon arriving at the station, Sam went to the storage room to retrieve her tool belt. There, she noticed an envelope carefully placed on her clipboard, ensuring she wouldn't overlook it. It bore the name "Samantha Park," and she recognized the handwriting.

Dear God, Sam's heart raced. Reese! Did she know it was her who had called in yesterday? Was Reese politely rejecting her to prevent her from feeling embarrassed?

No, Reese wouldn't do that. Perhaps it was the promised puppy pictures, which she could easily forgotten given the recent events.

She gingerly tore open the envelope, revealing two tickets and a note.

Oh my God. She wants to go to a music festival with me! Sam spun around and did a little celebratory dance, earning her perplexed glances from her colleagues. She doesn't care.

Wait, she referred to me as Rosie.

Sam examined the tickets. They were for the Soul Music Festival.

Oh, Lord. She knows I have a crush on her, yet she still wants to go with me!

She re-read the note, "Your Jennie." Sam couldn't help but chuckle. Is that what gave her away?

Damn. She now recollected their conversations about her love for Blackpink, her fascination with Rosé, and her massive crush on Jennie.

She beamed.

After the initial exhilaration subsided, Sam went to the reception desk, grabbed a marker, and jotted down her response on a sheet of paper.

With wobbly knees, she made her way down the hallway.

There she was! Reese swiveled back and forth in her chair as she spoke into the microphone. Sam watched her, savoring every moment.

As if sensing her presence, as she often did, Reese gazed through the glass, and their eyes locked. Reese subtly posed an unspoken question by tilting her head.

Sam grinned and held up her sign that read, "Hell Yes!"

Reese responded with a broad smile.

For a moment, they exchanged joyful glances like smitten teenagers. Reese then put on her headphones and appeared to focus on her caller.

Sam watched her for a moment before turning and heading back to the storage room. She checked the large wall clock and noticed that it was only six o'clock.

It seemed that sometimes, magic happens long before midnight.
