The concert ended and they went backstage screaming and cheering like last time. But Ann didn't feel like it this time. The events opened a wound that she kept hidden so deep. She just gave Mark a weak smile, before running to look for her mom. She knew she needed her right now. She saw people from the VIP section coming around and she looked around for her mother in the crowd.
"Hey." She felt a squeeze on her arm.
She turned around only to be faced with Nick's stunning wife Priyanka. They didn't really get the chance to talk last time.
"Oh, hi." She smiled at her and gave her a hug.
"I'm so sorry for your loss. It was beautiful." She gave her a warm smile.
"Thank you." She smiled back, before someone grabbed and pulled her from Ann.
"Catch you later!" She screamed to her.
"Okay!" She laughed, waving at her.
She search around and finally locked eyes with her mom and Jazz walking side by side. She waved to them, so they could notice her. Tears started to fill Ann's eyes again as she saw her mom, who was emotional as well.
"Mommy..." she whispered, before pulling her in a hug.
Jazz joined them, hugging them from a side, making Ann laugh through tears.
"Thank you for doing this, mom." She whispered into her long blonde hair.
"I've never heard that song before. But after the first concert and hearing it, I just couldn't get the thought out of my head that it suits our situation so good. So I asked Joe, right before you got on stage, if I could do that for you and he was more than happy to do so."
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but the man is starting to grow on me. Couple more points and I may even tolerate him." Said Jazz, making them both laugh.
"He would make a really good son in law." Her mom said raising her eyebrows at Ann.
"Oh my god! Can you stop already with this assumptions?" She shook her head at her mom.
"I see how you look at each other. How you act around each other. You remind me so much of me and your father when we first met."
That made Ann's eyes glossy. Did she really unintentionally picked Joe as a representation of her dad? Now that she thought about it, she really saw many similarities between them. The stubbornness, the sense of humor. Was it why she was so drawn to him?
"Am I interrupting?" They heard a voice behind them, making all their head turn. It was Joe, standing shily in the back. Ann couldn't help, but smile seeing his face. She wondered how much of this conversation did he hear.
"Of course not, sweetheart! Come join us." Her mom came up to him and gave him a side hug.
"I'm starting to think you like Joe more than me." Ann raised an eyebrow at her mom.
"Well, I always wanted a son, you know that." She looked up at him and rubbed his back. "So let me enjoy the moment while it lasts okay?"
"While it lasts?" She frowned.
"Yeah, I'm flying home tomorrow. And you're going on a tour." She chuckled at her daughter.
„Oh. Right." Ann looked down, forgetting that this bubble won't last forever.
„Ann." Said Joe, catching her attention. „They all want to go to a club today."
„Oh, I would love to, but I want to spend some time with my mom, while she's still here." She gave her a warm smile.
