Days and weeks have passed and Joe and Ann continued on their secret relationship. She got used to the sneaking around and acting like nothing was going on. With time, they got better at it and nobody, except Kevin, knew about them. At least no one ever mentioned it to them.
Kevin was their friend in all of this. He always made sure nobody caught them and made multiple excuses for them.
Joe had been asked various times in interviews about their relationship, but he always laughed it off, saying people get too deep sometimes and that she's like a little sister to him. Ann got used to it, it didn't bother her. What bothered her was how limited time they had with each other.
The only time they could be alone and not be scared of anyone catching them were nights in hotel rooms. And they made every second of them count. And what do couples in love do at night? They have sex. So they did. Almost every night.
The other moment that they were alone was sneaking around before concerts. They always checked every room in every venue, searching for the most abandoned one, where no one would go in. And they had sex. It became part of Joe's pre show ritual and she was more than happy to take part in it.
But with time, she couldn't help but notice most of their time together was consumed by sex. She lacked other ways to spend time with him. Of course some nights they spend talking to each other, laughing, watching TikToks. She sometimes joined him on his daily morning searches for caffeine, but she didn't do that very often, to not bring to much attention to them.
And because of that, she felt as though they were stuck. Although she knew she loved him, she never said that to him. He never said that again after the first plane ride as well. That just reassured her that it this wasn't going in any direction. It wasn't going worse and it wasn't going better. They were stuck in this bubble of theirs, that was about to burst any second.
Today they had a show in New York. It was the last tour before a two weeks break. Ann was awaiting this moment for a long time, the tiredness from the constant concerts and traveling around hitting her harder with every day passed. She was also very excited to see her friend Jazz back in LA and her mom, who said that she'll fly to see them.
Joe said he will also fly back to LA, so they can spend some more time together, which at first made Ann really happy, but at that moment, she didn't know what to think. A thought about this being an escape from him, to take a breath and think about all of this, was running around her mind. She just didn't know how to say that to him.
Her thoughts were cut off with a knock on the door.
„Come in." She said sitting up on her hotel bed.
Joe came in the room with a look on his face that she couldn't read through. He had his phone in his hand and his gaze was plastered into it, not looking up even for a second.
„What's going on?" She frowned as he sat next to her on the bed. He didn't respond, so she snatched the phone from his hand to see for herself.
Soph: Just to let you know, I'll be at the concert tonight. Is there a chance we could talk before or after the show?
Ann's heart started to race as she read the text that he had received. Her eyes grew wide and her hands started to shake as she passed him back his phone. His eyes were focused on the floor, as if he was afraid to look her in the eyes.
„What does she want?" She said a little uncertain.
He shrugged, before finally looking up at Ann. His eyes were distant, lacking the spark he always had when he looked at her. The thoughts of her came back to him and suddenly she felt like a third wheel, even though she wasn't even in the room.
