I can't say how long I sat in the cubby. Long enough that night had turned to day and back to night again. It was dark outside the cubby. My tears had dried and I was sore from being cramped in such a small place for so long. As I lay with my head on the wall I suddenly heard a door open.
I jolted up, heart racing, craning my ears to hear. I could hear what sounded like heels clicking on the floor. Fear coursed through me as I peeked through the hidden hole to watch. Seconds later a tall petite women walked through the door of my bedroom. She has long red hair, and was wearing a all black long sleeve jumpsuit. The clicking I heard was indeed from heels as she had on a fair of thigh high black heeled boots. She looked like something out of a spy movie. It didn't take the lady long to spot my fathers body on the floor. Her mouth gaped and her eyes glassed over as she took slow steps towards him.
"I'm so sorry JJ. You deserved better then this. He's gonna pay. One day. I'm gonna keep her safe I promise. I'll take her to Eve. She'll be safe there." The lady said to my father.
She reached into a pocket on her jumpsuit and dialed a number. After a few seconds she began talking again.
"Hey boss it's Lena. Jj's gone. I need a cleaner sent over....no not yet....I will....copy that." And with that she hung up.
She stood up and looked around. She looked directly where I was hidden. I held my breath afraid that she knew exactly where I was.
"Aurora. I know your in there. My names Lena. I was a friend of James I need you to come out. Your safe I promise. No one's going to hurt you while I'm around." She stated.
I sat still for a few more minutes. So many thoughts were racing in my mind. What if it's trap? What if she's here to kill me or capture me for the unknown boss? If that were the case why would she be sad about my father death. I debated for a few more minutes and decided I couldn't stay hidden forever. I slowly unhinged the bolt and slid the door open. Climbing out I avoided looking down at my father.
"Aurora. I know your scared and confused but I need you to come with me. I need to get you somewhere safe. They won't stop looking for you.." she said.
"There's a lot you don't know and a lot he should have told you. James wasn't your real father. I won't tell you much more for your own safety. I will tell you this. Your not safe. No matter what your not safe. Always keep your guard up. I'm sending you to a friend. She's a amazing women and you'll be protected with her. Grab your things you have 5 minutes." She continued.
I opened my mouth to speak
" what do you mean James wasn't my father. I'm confused. I don't understand any of this. Why did they kill him? Whose the boss and what does he want with me. Please I'm scared. Please tell me what's happening." I cried.
Lena looked at me with a sad face and said " don't dig Aurora. It won't end well for you trust me. Some secrets are better left buried. You have 4 minutes. I'll meet you in the car you have a flight to catch." And with that she walked away.
About 10 minutes later and we were in a all blacked out suv on the way to a airport.
"Where am I going? Why won't you tell me anything" I asked.
Lena sighed as she had done every-time I had asked a question. She looked at me out of the corner of her eye and let out another sigh.
"Listen Aurora I'd love to tell you everything, I really would but it would only put you in more danger. Your going to Yorkshire. It's the last place anyone would expect us to take you. It's your homeland. I know you don't understand but you will one day. Just give it time."Lena said.
I looked at her shocked. Yorkshire. Like England. What in the hell was happening. This whole thing is insane. Some group of ppl were out to get me for god knows what reason. My father isn't my father and apparently I'm from England. My mind was completely shattered.
