"Maria. Fill me in on everything that went down yesterday. You didn't answer any of my fucking texts," Elena, my closest friend of 5 years demands.
"Can I come just over? I wanted to hangout anyways," I ask.
"Yeah, of course. Imma let my mom know. You gonna walk?" Elena says.
"Mhm. Only a 10 minute walk," I shrug.
"Okay loveyyy. Get here safe, see you," she smiles, ending the FaceTime.
I grab my purse and head out, texting my parents who went out of town last night that i'll be at Elena's.

I plop down on her bed, grinning widely.
"Tell me!" Elena urges, holding my arms.
"Girl. Not much happened. I saw his fine ass in my art class, sat next to him, pretended not to know him, made conversation, texted him after school, and then we hung out," I shrug.
"Bitch... the way you texted me made it seem like you fucked or whatever. But 'kay. Now you don't wanna act crazy," she laughs.
"Alright don't be dramatic," I roll my eyes.
"I'm not!! What did you do at Starbucks?"
"We had a drawing competition but didn't even pick a winner. We also talked about the little brawl I had with my parents. And girl he bought me a drink and a cake pop that I didn't even ask for," I say.
"Kacie did always say he was sweet... didn't she?" she bites her lip.
"Don't be fucking shady," I roll my eyes.
"I'm not. I'm just reminding you that one of our close friends was talking to him for a hot minute," she shrugs.
"I know. But in middle school, I was so close to asking him out. So the fact that they talked doesn't matter because I had him first," I laugh.
"Wow. What about girl code? Is he worth breaking it?" she tilts her head.
"Elena. Are we seeing the same boy? He is too good of an opportunity to miss out on. And this isn't about Kacie. She has wronged me so many times and I'm not trying to get with him out of spite, I just think I like him." I frown.
"Okay. But you know Kacie likes to act oblivious and this could really be taken the wrong way,"
"I know. Fuck," I groan, flying backwards on her bed.
Elena massages my head, instantly calming my nerves.
"I love you, Lena. But I want this boy," I smirk.
"I love you too girl, but sometimes we have to realize when we're wrong and prevent ourselves from hurting others by our decisions," she lifts her brows.
I nod with closed eyes even though I don't want to listen to what she's saying. Trying pursue Miguel would be selfish, but why not put myself first? When Kacie did it, I brushed it off. So what happens if I do too?
"Oh my God..." I smile.
"What?" Elena stops her massaging.
"I forgot to tell you. While I was drawing, I fucking look up, and he is staring at me. And when I say staring I mean staring."
"Maria, please don't play with me right now," she rolls her eyes.
"No. I'm being serious. I asked if he was good and he said something like "'I'm just thinking how you looked then compared to now blah blah,"' and I'm like "'Oh okay... you look the same to be honest,'" or some dumb shit. And then he's like "'Oh, I thought I had a glow up,'" and I'm like "'Indeed,"' and then I start blushing, so I have to fucking look away. Embarrassing." I exaggerate.
