Chapter 4

After our conversation, we decided to start picking up our things. Madi picked up all of our belongings as I rolled up the sleeping bags and threw them outside. Kayla easily took the small tent down and we all took turns dragging things to the car so that we didn't lose our spot in line. It was about eight thirty in the morning by now, and the line was getting longer by the minute. Kayla and Madi came back from their last trip to the car, and sat on the ground in exhaustment.

"Thank goodness we camped out here." I said, studying the long line behind us. It could've wrapped around the whole building twice, but the line was only going to get longer.

They both nodded, almost out of breath. We would have to stand there for another half hour before we got to see the boys. None of us made them any fancy gifts, and we totally regretted it. But we had pictures of all of them that we wanted them to sign.

We had nothing else to do, so we sat in the grass and tried to find ways to entertain ourselves. There was a clover patch right beside where I was sitting, so I thought it'd be fun to look for a four leaf clover. I knew I would never find one in a small clover patch like that, but I kept searching anyway out of boredom. I would pluck the ones with only three leaves, making a huge "discard" pile of clovers.

Madi and Kayla were playing games on their ipods, listening to One Direction music and tweeting fangirling posts. I didn't want to bother them, so I kept looking through that small patch of clovers, actually turning hopeful of finding four leaves. Time was going by quicker than I thought, and I knew I would have to give up soon.

I plucked a clover, and counted its leaves in my head. 1...2...3...discard. Pick another. 1...2...3..discard. Pick another. 1...2...3...4? I held the clover up to the sun, and counted the leaves again. 1. 2. 3....4!

I looked at the clover and smiled. What was I going to do with it now that I've found it? Put it in my hair? Save it for a scrapbook? I studied all the details on the clover, thinking of what I should do with it.

A light went off in my head. I had the perfect idea. I protectively cupped the clover in my hands. The doors were going to open soon, and I really had nothing else to do. I made myself comfortable in the grass and I started listening to other teenage girls' conversations.

"Oh my gosh, what if Harry asks me to be his girlfriend? Dude, I would cry." Pshh. Like that's gonna happen. I constantly pulled my phone from my pocket and checked the time. My heart only thudded louder by the second. I counted the beats in my head, and it seemed like it's been ages. Madi stood up and stuck her iPod in her back pocket. She probably saw the time. She looked at my cupped hands.

"Whatcha got there?" she asked with no emotion. I smiled at her and stood up.
