Chapter 6

I grabbed my bag and started heading out of the hospital room that I've been staying in for a couple days. Niall never left my side the whole time I was there, except when he went to go get food.

My mom called my cell phone as soon as she found out what had happened...which was the next day after the incident. She's been at work so much that she never found the time to visit me. "I'm very disappointed in you for fighting that girl! You didn't even have to get involved." I remembered her say over the phone. Then of course after she got mad, she gushed over how sorry she was that her poor little baby got hurt.

I reached for the doorknob, but Niall beat me and opened the door for me. He flashed a smile.

"After you!" he said kindly. I smiled and curtsied, just to play along. The nurse led Niall and me towards the lobby, Niall resting his hand on my back as if he was leading the way also. I deeply blushed at every little kind thing he did for me, hopefully he hasn't noticed that yet. We made it to the lobby after so many twists and turns and corners. Niall thanked the nurse and turned towards me.

"I hope I made your stay at the hospital a bit more interesting." he said jokingly. I nodded, being completely serious. He gently rubbed the scar on my forehead. The bandages were gone, but I still had a huge scar from the stitches.

"Well, I had a nice time with you, too!" he said after a while, smiling lightly. I didn't know what to say at this point, so I quickly asked one of the questions that have been going through my head for so long.

"So...why did you stay with me at the hospital?" I asked curiously, looking up at him. He seemed to know the answer right off his head.

"Well, first of all, I know I wouldn't want to be stuck in a bloody hospital by myself for a few days. Second, I love my fans and I want them to know that I actually do care about them. And lastly, you stuck up for me. I can't leave someone who did that for me in a hospital and never speak to them again." he smiled at me, as if I should've known that already. I looked down and bit my bottom lip, debating whether I should ask my next question or not. He lifted my chin gently with his hand so that I was looking at him straight in the eyes.

"Is something wrong?" he asked. I shook my head no, and stayed silent. I could tell that Niall was starting to feel awkward, and he didn't know what to say anymore.

"Well...erm...I'd hate to never talk to you again....so...do you think...uhm..do you have a...erm--" he stuttered. I cut him off, half smiling.

"Yes, I have a number, and I will gladly give it to you." I replied. I took a gum wrapper from my bag and a sharpie, and scribbled down my number. I handed it to him and smiled reassuringly. He smiled back shyly and led me out exiting doors.

My mom was waiting for me outside the hospital in the car. I turned to Niall and gave him a hug. He pulled away and pecked me on the cheek, but I pulled him back in for another hug.

"Thanks for everything." I whispered in his ear.

He smiled and pulled away, "It was no biggy. I'll call you sometime, 'kay?" he said moving the hair away from my eyes. I nodded and started walking towards the car. I opened the door and slid into the passenger seat.

"Hi, Mom." I said casually. She didn't reply, and she didn't start driving either. I looked over to see if something was wrong. She was looking out the window, her eyes were following Niall in awe. She started to stutter, "Is that...Is that...that boy you like? From One Direction?" she asked. I laughed nervously and nodded, blushing. Her eyes kept flickering from me, to Niall. Then she half smiled.
