As I woke, I'm in a gown. A hospital gown. I'm in the hospital. "Oh Coryo, you're okay. Everything's alright." Tigris is here beside me. "You got hurt. There were bombing in the Arena as a form of rebellion. Some of the tributes escaped, but most were found."
"It was my tribute, Marcus. They have everyone looking for him. Every District, every Peacekeeper, everyone." Sejanus. He is a close friend of mine, we have known each other for years. He is probably my best friend. I don't have a lot of close friends, but he is one of the few. Well, the only.
Then, I hear the television. The headline reading, "Introducing Our Talented Tributes..." My idea, it's working. I knew it. The Plinth prize is practically mine. It's in my hands. Now, Amelia is all I have. Then, she walks onto the stage, and she has a guitar. Here it comes.
In the corner, you can see a donations icon. Maybe, in some way, this can benefit not only me, but the Games.
Then, out of her mouth, comes an elegant, impacting, storytelling lullaby. About, her boyfriends back home...
As she sings, I stand up, to see closer. And as she sings, you can see the nurses closely watching, silently weaping, tears down their faces.
Donations add, and add, and add. They are at thousands. Wow, I'm shocked. This is crazy. She's attracting the money, attention, love.
After, I decide to travel to the arena. Maybe, the rubble can make shelter for her. I sneak out of the room, and travel to the Arena. As I walk around all the shards of glass and pieces debris and wreckage, I find an opening in the ground. A hole, a hiding spot.
Then, as I look around for more spots for her, I travel to her, the cage. As I struggle to walk up, I spot Amelia. She runs up to the bars, and I look down to her level and get on my knees to talk to her.
"Coriolanus, what are you doing here? Are you alright, you got very hurt the last time we saw each other." Amelia asks.
"I'm perfectly fine, Amelia, I came to talk to you about the games. Due to the bombing, there is rubble all over the arena for you to hide in. There is a hole in the ground, leading with tunnels all around. As soon as that timer chimes, and I mean the millisecond it is over, you run. Run as fast as you can." I instruct. She has fear, terror in her eyes. She gets teary. They roll down her face. I grab a napkin, and I pat her face.
"It's going to be okay. You'll be okay, I'll make sure of it. Believe me, Amelia." I say
"Coriolanus, I'm scared. I miss my family, my friends, everyone back home. I miss my life. What if I die in that arena?" She asks with tears streaming down her face.
"You won't. People are counting on you to win. Made bets for you, donated to you, everything. It is because you are a shining, shimmering light of sun. People in the Capitol see that, and believe it you." I say, while still patting her face dry. "Tell me, do you have a boyfriend back home?"
"Well, used to. It's a long story, he isn't worth my time anymore." She said.
"I have something for you. Here." I hand her what looks like makeup, but it is so much more than that. "This is rat poison, you cannot give this to anyone, and you have to be hidden if you put it anywhere. This can kill you if you even breath it in. This is very dangerous, and be very careful with it." I say.
"Thank you, Coriolanus. For everything. If I win this, I don't know how I'll repay you. You have done so much for me, and I couldn't thank you enough. You are a good man, Coriolanus." She says."
Nobody has given me this much praise, it feels good. I feel I've impacted her, been her shining glimmering sun. As I say this, and think, my body moves closer. Then, our lips meet through the bars. Her lips are warm, and soft. I hold her face, and she moves closer. I move away, and I look at her, long and hard look. I've never noticed until now how radiant she looks. She is a very charismatic looking lady.
"Amelia, I believe in you. All you have to do is trust me. In any way you possibly can." I say.
"Coriolanus, I trust you. I'll trust you even more when I win." Amelia declares.
In the beginning, I didn't think she had the guts to win. She was the scrawny, little girl from District 12. She had no chance. But now, as I have gotten to see her as a person, I believe that she can win it. We can win it. I haven't been certain about anything else, but this. But her.
