Beyond Saving Bucky

Id like you to meet someone

Steve's POV:

We finish lunch, and I drive us back to the compound. She thanks me for lunch and heads back to her room. As I enter my room, I hear my phone ring. When I pull it out of my pocket, I see it's Bucky FaceTiming me.

Steve: "hey Buck! How are you?"

Bucky: "Hey! I'm good. How are things there?"

Steve: "well, your girls nuts you know that right?"

Bucky: "well yea...but like...I need context, so what happened?" He asks, smiling

Steve: "well first off, she can drink! Secondly, so I took her for a run this morning and..."

He cuts me off, "wait...you made her run?" He asks, letting out a cackle.

Steve: "Hangover cure, Buck!"

Bucky: "oh god, yea you're on your own with that one! Did she threaten you after?" He asks, wiping the tears from laughing so hard away from his eyes.

Steve: "oh no...we're besties now...that's why I'm hiding in a closet!! She's kinda scary, man" I reply

I watch as his face falls a little, "how is my girl? I miss her..."

Steve: "She's doing ok. Misses you like crazy. But...we're bonding. It's been good, Bucky."

Bucky: "Thank you, Steve. I'm really glad she has you...."

Steve: "so how's it going there?"

Bucky: "Shuri is making progress, I think. I just...I can't wait to get back. I hate being without her."

Steve: "I know. She hates it too. But, I promise I've got her until you get back....if she doesn't kill me first."

Bucky: "yea, just watch that left hook of hers" Bucky laughs before finishing up our call and heading back to see Shuri.

I make my way downstairs and find Tony sitting in the living room. I take a seat in the chair across from him.

Steve: "so Bucky just called..."

Tony: "yea? How is our boy doing?"

Steve: "Good, he says Shuri is making progress. He's homesick though. He misses her a lot"

Tony: "Well Shuri's algorithm is brilliant, gives me a run for my money. It shouldn't take much longer I would think. How is she doing?"

Steve: "she's...coping" I reply, "brave face and all. Stark....did you know she's alone? She has no family"

Tony: "I'm slightly offended, Cap. Do you not know me at all? Do you really think I would bring someone here and not vet them? Yes...I know she doesn't have any family."

Steve: "She misses him...so much. I'm doing what I can, but....im not him, ya know"

Tony: "She's been through a lot. Quentin, Bucky, her parents. And that's just the tip of the iceberg"

Steve: "what do you mean?"

Tony: "Not my story to tell, cap. It's hers. Her past, we can't help with. But her present, her right now, that's you, you can help her with that. Bucky is her family, and you're the closest thing to him she has right now. Use that"

An idea sparks, and I think I know something I can give her.

Tony: "You're smiling cap, what's going on in that mind of yours?"

Steve: "I think I have an idea....can you get me the archives? And keep everyone out of the theater tonight?"
