Leila
A couple hours earlier....
Ever since Lorenzo mentioned Ava in his sleep, I've been on edge. I have no idea why he was thinking about her and I'm beginning to feel a bit insecure. Does he have a thing for her or something? That shit was weird, but who am I to talk if I was thinking about Damian the whole time we were fuckin'. I haven't shown as much affection to him and it's been two weeks. He's finally decided to make time and take us out on a date. He's chosen to have dinner at Giovanni's, but I'm not too excited about it anymore. I can't shake the whole "Ava" thing.
"Sweetheart, you okay. You've hardly touched your food." Lorenzo asks.
I slowly picked into my salmon and just went into a daze. "I'm okay."
"Look at me." I picked my head to stare into his eyes.
"What's wrong?"
I take a long deep breath and whispered, "why did you call out for Ava in your sleep?"
"Babe, what're you talking about?"
"Two weeks ago. When I came home upset after hanging with the girls, we had sex, you fell asleep, but you moaned for Ava. Why are you calling for her? Do you know her?"
"No, I don't know that girl. Babe, I think you trippin' just a little bit."
"Lorenzo, please. Don't try to make it seem like I'm crazy. I know what I heard. You said her name. Verbatim."
He swallows hard and leans back into his chair. "I don't know what to tell you, babe, but I don't remember that. Maybe I said her name, because I was having a dream or something. I mean, y'all just squabbled not too long ago, so I..." he nervously scratched the back of his head. "... I guess it just happened involuntarily.
"Right." I don't believe that shit at all. Do I look like a stupid bitch?
"Come on, babe. Let's not focus on dumb shit. It's a beautiful night and we're finally hanging out again. Let's not ruin it."
I rolled my eyes and slumped back in my chair as well. I probably am tripping about all this. My eyes lingered around the restaurant and that's when I saw Damian... with Ava. My Goooodddd. Ohh, how this world just loves to be funny and bring the favorite couples together. I didn't acknowledge them as much as Ava was with me. I rolled my eyes again and continued to my date with my man.
"What was that look about?"
"Hm? Nothing. It's nothing."
"Nah, you saw something."
He turns around. "Lorenzo," I called.
"Not this clown again." He utters. "Just can't seem to escape this shit."
"Hey, like you said." I grabbed for his hand. "We're here for us. No one else. Remember?" I feel like I shouldn't be reassuring him, but he's a good man and I know he's just trying to make things work.
"You're right. They're none existent. I bet she won't even step to you after the treatment you gave her. You saw her lip? That shit looks crazy."
I laugh hysterically.
"Mm. Damn, you're so sexy when you laugh."
I blushed. "Eww, Lorenzo, stop."
"I'm serious. You ain't gotta hide that shit from me, babe. I love everything about you." I'm sorry, but did he say...love? "Especially at the fact that you can whoop a bitch's ass and still be classy about it after. Kind of turns me on."
"Now?"
"Nah later. Yeah now." He chuckled. "You wanna get out of here?"
"And go where?"
