Earlier in the day, Lorenzo and I argued, because this was the third time he canceled on our date that he pretty much planned. I went out and bought this gorgeous outfit. Not too flashy, but it more so leans on the sexy yet comfortable status.

I honestly believed we were finally gonna have a night to ourselves but I was mistaken... once again. I understand the hospital needs him, but damn I need him, too. The last time we've officially spent time together was mama's birthday party and you seen how that played out. Imani called earlier, asking what I was doing for the night. Shit, nothing now. She let me know that the Romanos were having family dinner night, but I began to second guess the thought of going. There's no doubt in the world Damian will be there. I don't know. Will he bring his girlfriend? Ehhh. I doubt it. Mama would chew her ass up to pieces. I have been meaning to talk to Damian, so maybe this could be my chance.
I knocked on the door to their house. No answer. I almost forgot there's a doorbell, but before I could reach for it, Domenico answers. "Tesoro."
"Heyy, Nico." He greets me by placing a gentle kiss to the side of my cheek and I entered through.
"Imani told me you might show up."
"Might as well right? Lorenzo can't make it. Hospital work, you know." He nods and now it feels awkward. "Where's Mama?"
"She's in the kitchen cooking with your sisters I believe. What's that?" He asked, checking out the gift bag in my hand.
"Oh! It's just something I meant to give to mama for her birthday along with an apology."
"You know she loves you too much to stay mad at you."
"True, but it doesn't hurt to try. I'll see you guys at the dinner table." He nodded and we split into two directions. As I stalked towards the kitchen, I hear mama having a conversation with... Damian. I breathed slowly then out shakily. Okay, I got this. I don't know what it is about his presence that makes me feel a little uneasy.
"I need to call the girls back in, because I'm not about to do the rest of the cooking by myself."
"I can help." I insisted cheerfully. When Damian spun around to see me, a hoard of butterflies fluttered through the pit of my stomach. I scanned his attire from head to toe. His hair is pulled into a man bun and his beard is full and trimmed. He's wearing an all black t-shirt that defines all his tattooed muscles and black slacks. I don't know what it is when a man wears a cross earring, but I think it's so sexy. Lorenzo believes it's gay or whatever but Damian has no shame in his game. He's very confident and nothing else turns me on more than that. He's very quiet, but you know what they say about that. The quietest man in the room can be the most dangerous.
"Leila, baby. What are you doing here?" Mama asked happily as she came around the counter to hug me.
"I just wanted to stop by and give you something." I handed her the gift bag in which she gracefully accepted.
