The night had settled uncomfortably over the arena a cool draft had sent shivers up and down your spine. Any breathing you took could be heard, any shifting you made to try and get comfortable on the hard floor made anyone out in the open arena. Dill had fallen asleep long ago, Reaper again as her support, stayed sat up, resting his arms on top of his legs. "You should try and sleep, we can take shifts." He mutters quietly to allow Dill some more peace. You shook your head. "I'd feel bad if you had to protect us both. It wouldn't be fair." You whisper back.
"Besides, you need it more than I do." You whisper even quieter as you notice Dills face scrunch up at the noise.

He pauses for a moment, as if trying to justify what his response will be. "No, it makes me think.. of home. I used to stay up, look after and make sure my sisters were asleep before I did. Made me tired for work, but made me comfortable." He mutters. Looking down at Dill. "She reminds me of my little sister." He whispers brushing hair from her face as she shifts. "She's not like the children back home in seven, she's much too mature for her age.." you whisper watching Dill move around in her sleep. Reaper nods his head slowly in agreement.

The moment of peace however is soon interrupted, as you hear the sound of metal, rushing against the cold concrete and a singular pair of footsteps enter the arena. Then whispers began, echoing loudly. You sit up more alert, no longer feeling the weight of exhaustion. You go to stand quietly. "Stop. Stay down." Reaper hissed.

"You don't know who's coming." You roll your eyes.
"It could be something that could hurt us, hurt Dill." You hiss back grabbing your axe, ducking behind the boulder to peer out. You see a flash of red, the same uniform from your mentor, the others mentors. And, bright white hair. Coriolanus Snow. He slowly walked into the arena his eyes scanning it wildly. His eyes eventually land onto the pole where Marcus was strung up and he begins moving slowly, towards it.

How did he get in here? Why was he in here? You move closer noticing a shadowed figure leaning over Marcus. How long had he been here? You never noticed him come in? Was it a tribute? Snow reached out placing a hand onto the man's shoulder, clasping it tightly. A rush of footsteps is what makes you duck back down. You hear a shout. Alerting you even more you look further out noticing a person come running out from the other side of the arena.

Bobbin, comes out of hiding screaming out to get the attention of other tributes. You hear movement from behind you as Dills voice eventually murmurs as she breaks from sleep. Reaper immediately begins to move, joining your side, his weapon tightly clenched into his hand as he peaks out as well. You turn your gaze to the view again as Coriolanus Snow and the man begins to run, Bobbin following them. What you didn't expect was for Lucy Grays mentor to lash out grabbing Bobbin tightly as the other man falls his ankle letting out a twisted snap causing him to let out a scream. Swinging a piece of brick at his head, Snow begins his violent assault onto Bobbin. You look away ducking back behind the boulder as you begin to hear repeating sickening crunches.

You look to your left only to see, Wovey. Ducked down behind the rock where Bobbin had sprung from, her hands tightly clasping over her ears, rocking back and forth, her eyes shut, mumbling quietly to herself in an attempt to comfort herself. The noises continued, unstopping until the man shouted for Snow, begging him to leave the poor boy alone.

You can feel yourself getting sick again, Dill began to let out small whimpers of fear as she pushes herself into the corner, spluttering coughs rapidly due to her heavy breathing. Instantly Reaper is back to her side, wrapping tight arms around her murmuring words of comfort against her hair.

A chorus of voices then start to shout, rage filled tones, echoing from the hole as they all begin to climb out. You watch Coral, take the lead sprinting into the corridor followed by Mizzen, another boy, sprinting after Snow and the man as fast as they could to the entrance, hopping over the metal gate.

And Treech. You peak your head even further out as you hear metal on metal, then Coral comes out huffing and shouting words in fury. She returns back to the hole. Mizzen and the other boy close behind. Treech, however pauses for a moment. His gaze searching the arena rapidly. His eyes then meet yours. You feel your blood run cold as your fists go white around your axe. His eyes relax as a relieved smile crosses his face. He then slowly walks away following after Coral into the hole.

You can feel your chest begin to release. He's alive, thank god he's alive. And, better yet, he's safe. You let out a sigh slumping over at the boulder. Your eyes met with Reapers again. "Try and get some sleep now?" He asks quietly as he tries to soothe the crying Dill. You nod your head slowly. It would be for the best.

Sleep sounded good. Too good. A luxury now in this world. You nod your head slowly, your head beginning to lull against the rock. You imagined that Treech was there, sat close beside you. That you were back in the zoo on your bench, curled up, whispering about other people in there and things you had seen. You wished you could hear Treech make his snarky comments, over anything and everything. The people from the Capitol, the other Districts, and about the people back home.

Instead of feeling the support of his arms, all you could feel was the cold, hard concrete as you fell asleep.
