Chapter 26: "Harmony in Tokyo"

September 12, 1987 Tokyo, Japan

Michael's POV

The morning sun painted the room in soft hues as I slowly stirred from my slumber. The warmth of Amahle beside me offered a comforting embrace, and for a moment, I allowed myself to bask in the tranquility of the morning.

As I gently shifted to get out of bed, I couldn't help but admire the peaceful expression on Amahle's face. The events of the previous night lingered in my mind, both the electrifying performance and the vulnerable moments we shared. Our love story was unfolding like a melody, each note adding depth and richness to the composition.

After a refreshing shower, I decided to head downstairs to check in with Ms. Rhonda . There were questions that needed answers, especially after last night and the episode that Amahle had. There is somethings that are even darker then what she told me about Darren, that she is hiding from me. The uncertainty lingered in the air, and I was determined to unveil the shadows that seemed to shroud parts of her life.

As I walked down the hallway towards the elevator , a mix of emotions coursed through me. The anticipation of confronting Rhonda about the secrets Amahle was keeping added a layer of tension to the morning. Once I was off the elevator I walked down  the hall towards Rhonda and the girls' suite I knocked on the door, and after a brief moment, Sanaa opened it.

"Michael, what's up?" She said with, she was chipper one for it to be 7:35 in the morning. I stepped into the suite, glancing around at the well-appointed space. I noticed Rhonda in the corner reading a book, sipping on what I'm assuming is coffee. Rhonda looked up from her book and smile "Good morning son, how are you, where's my Jenna doll ?"

I smiled at the childhood nickname that Rhonda bestowed upon her. I sat down in the loveseat closest to her "She still sleeping, I actually wanted to talk to you in private about something." I said.

Rhonda's eyes met mine with a curious expression. "Of course, Michael. Just one second" she said looking behind me towards Sanaa.

I turned my head, Sanaa was leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, ready to hear what I had to ask. "Sanaa got in the room." she said sternly. Sanaa smacked her teeth and rolled her eyes as she walked off the room closing the door behind her.

"What's on your mind?" She set her book aside, ready to listen to whatever weighed on me.

I sighed , dragging my hand down my face. Rhonda raised an eyebrow, a mix of curiosity and skepticism in her expression. "Answers about what, Michael?"

I took a moment, choosing my words carefully. "About Amahle. There are things she hasn't told me, and I want to know what's going on." The room fell silent for a moment as everyone exchanged glances. Rhonda leaned back on the couch, crossing her arms. "What kind of things are we talking about here?"

I hesitated, the weight of the unspoken truths lingering in the air. "I know there's more to her past than what she's shared. I want the truth, Ms. Rhonda . I care about her, and I deserve to know." Rhonda sighed, Rhonda's gaze softened as she observed the earnestness in my eyes. She sighed, realizing the depth of my concern. "Michael, Amahle has been through some truly harrowing experiences. I know you care about her, and you deserve to know, but you have to promise me you'll handle this information with care."

I nodded solemnly, understanding the gravity of the conversation that was about to unfold. "I promise, Rhonda. I just want to understand and be there for her."

She took a deep breath, bracing herself for the difficult revelation. "It was winter time 1985, there was an incident with Darren, her ex-boyfriend. It was... severe. Darren's actions resulted in Amahle suffering a head fracture, putting her in a small coma for a brief period."
