"Why isn't anything happening?" You turn to look at him; however, what you see makes you gasp.
He's not even there. He just disappeared.
Indignantly, you look at the children. What would you do now? A woman rushes over.
"My children! What happened to my children?" She frantically wails, a look of horror on her face as she looks around. Her eyes stop in their tracks when they come across your countenance. She walks over to you.
"What happened? Did you see what happened to them?" She says, panic-stricken.
"No, I don't know." You murmur guiltily.
She frowns and sighs. "Can you help me get them into my house?" Thus, you and the woman walk over to the children. She picks up one of them, and you scoop the other up in your arms as a chilly breeze runs through your hair. You didn't really stop to notice before, but the scenery here is truly beautiful. The sky is a pretty blue, the neat grass is a luscious light green, and there are a group of trees nearby. The wind is a nice feeling, and it blows on the grass as well. You ought to come back sometime. (It looks like that, minus the trees and boy.)
You trudge over to the village and can't help but notice the numerous missing posters put up for the crown prince. You almost start coughing and hacking when you see a poster put for up you. Were they already looking for you? You couldn't help but realize that this plan was kind of stupid. You could've lived a nice life on your estate with no labor or stupid magic potions. You didn't have to leave. Why were you even here? Sure, the adventure was nice, but you seemed to have plunged yourself into a bit of an existential crisis right now.
Who was even looking for you? Oh, right, you've been so callous as to forget about your parents. Who were they, and what type of people were they? It must've been your father looking for you. Well, you don't exactly have any qualms about returning home, it sounds better than whatever was going on right now. But what about Eniam? Eh, he left you for dead, who cares.
Arriving at her place, you set the children down on a bed she leads you to.
"I need a doctor. Do you know anyone? The local doctor seems to be on a trip, but I'll have to put in a request. Can you watch them?" The mother mopes.
"I don't really know, and sure." You sit on a chair near the bed and watch the two children as you sit by a fire. It's so cozy, you almost drift off to sleep. However, you are jolted into alertness by a knock on the door in the other room. Should I open it? You go next to the door and listen for any sounds.
"It's me, their mother! I've brought a doctor!"
You ecstatically open the door, to be met by the mother and a cloaked figure looming over you.
They both enter quickly, and the doctor goes over to the bed where the children are as he examines their condition. You can't put a finger on it, but his frame and mannerisms look familiar.
"They look to be in good condition." The doctor says, brief and gruff.
Your eyes widen as you process his words. He sounds like... Eniam?
"En-" "He puts a hand over your mouth and moves over to the corner to have a private conversation.
"Don't reveal my identity."
"What's the problem if this poor mother knows?"
"I like to travel in anonymity." He looks smug.
He looks over to the mother. "Take care of them; give them lots of healthy food, vegetables, and... milk." He chuckles before adding, "They'll be fine in no time and wake up soon enough." He quickly pushes you out of the house.
"Eniam, what was that?! Where did you disappear, and why are you a doctor now?!" You hiss at him.
"What can I say? I'm talented. Anyway, I didn't want to deal with the aftermath of... whatever that was."
"It was YOUR potion!"
"I guess it just doesn't work, darling. Can't do much about that." He shrugs, smirking.
"You're a fraud!"
"I beg your pardon! Anyways, you can get my "fraudulent" potion for free since you tested it out."
"It's probably just water." You scoff. He looks you up and down. Oh no, it looks like he's got an idea.
"You should be an assistant at the store."
"So, would I live with you and Germaine at the tower then?"
"What do you think, duh." He rolls his eyes.
"Count me in, as long as I get lots of money."
"Well, your pay can be negotiated... perhaps." He laughs as you both walk back to the tower.
