Me and Shadow haven't spoken since the accident. I didn't want to. I didn't know how to even start talking to him.So instead, we just moved about in silence. We slept together, naked, in silence. We ate together in silence. We bathed together in silence. Lot's of silence.
And we've been travelling through space for a day or so, heading to my Bearer's Clan. He did promise me that he'd bring me to my Bearer. So I guess he was. Even if he didn't verbalise it.
But still. I wanted to hear his voice. Even if it was just a 'Hello'.
So I left the bedroom, and turned to walk over to Shadow where he sat in the captain's chair. I saw his ear flick to me in acknowledgment. So I decided to finally break the silence.
"Hey", I said, plain and simple.
He froze in his movements, even if it was just for a mere moment. He froze. A reaction.
"Hey", he muttered, before he started tapping away at the screens in front of the chair. I found myself fiddling with my fingers, while shifting on the spot.
I wanted to hear him more.
"Can you talk...please?", I asked, trying to see his face from where I stood.
"What do you want me to say?", he asked back, his ears pinned down.
"Anything", I answered almost desperately.
He was silent for a long while, and I didn't know why. It put me on edge, and I was growing more and more uncomfortable, the longer the silence drew on.
"We're here", he said, before tapping a button on an armrest, which in turn blinked away all of the unnecessary screens, and revealed a planet through the main windows. I saw in awe, the large mountains topped with white. A white in which I assumed was snow. And it brought a smile to my face.
Hurrying over, I swiftly sat in Shadows lap, and started bouncing slightly as I couldn't quite keep my excitement under control.
The straps wrapped around us as usual, and Shadow guided Silver Falcon down to the planet, breaking through the thin clouds. And I continued to watch as we grew closer and closer to my Bearer.
We came to the mountains, gliding over the many, many peaks and snowy cliffs, all as silent and untouching as usual for this ship. Then structures came into view.
We were coming up to a huge cliff, sloping upwards at a slight angle, that was dotted with lots of buildings. And so many Yautja!
Shadow swooped us up and over, before looping around and into a landing cave that I didn't notice beforehand! He landed us swiftly and with ease, before the straps holding us together pulled away. I leapt off, and hurried to the ramp door.
"Get your fur on", Shadow rumbled, throwing my furs at me once I turned around.
I caught them in a fumble, and quickly threw them on. After the furs were on, I turned back to the ramp. But Shadow pulled me back, and turned me around again. I watched his face as he readjusted my furs, and saw no emotion. It hurt me inside.
Once he was done, he turned back to the door, and opened it. A cold breeze swept over us, and I shuddered slightly, my skin prickling.
Shadow led us out, and I didn't even hear the door close and lock behind us.
Looking to my right after hearing a clang of metal, I saw that the caves were actually one massive cave. And I saw so many different kinds of ships! And Yautja working and moving around! All wearing fur like us!
I looked to my left and saw a similar sight, but not as far reaching. So I just continued to follow Shadow, running to catch up to him.
Reaching out my right hand, I held his hand, and wove our fingers together. I glanced up to see his face, but again, saw nothing. So when I sighed and looked forward as we walked out of the cave and onto a path outside, I was surprised to say the least, when I felt his hand squeeze mine.
