Chapter 4
After that amazing and extravagant first date, Kyle and I have been spending a lot more time together lately.
Two days ago, we spent the whole day watching old movies (Audrey Hepburn, Carey Grant era) in his house. I can't believe his mother has an extensive collection of movies from the fifties! Talk about dedication!
Yesterday, we were swimming in my pool and just lounged around. It was fun playing under the sun with Kyle. He was always game for anything. He even made friends with the snob (a.k.a Lance).
Today he was gonna bring me to the batting cages to teach me how to hit a baseball.
The only thing I'm worried about right now is what do I wear to a place like that? Seriously I'm not even worried about whether I can hit the ball or not, I'm worried about my outfit. Yes, I'm weird like that.
So I invite Lauren over to help me get dressed for my "batting cages" date tonight because in situations like these, she knows what to do.
Moments later, she arrives. I invite her inside and she goes into my room while she texts on her phone.
"Okay, Kyle asked me to go with him to the batting cages later this afternoon. What do I wear?" I asked Lauren frantically. She laughs at me, "Batting cages, really?" She asked in a condescending way. "Yeah. He's teaching me how to hit a baseball ball." I replied.
"Oh Emily. He's not gonna literally teach you how to hit the ball. Hmmm then again it is Kyle, so maybe he will teach you how to hit the baseball ball but I think he's looking for a way to get closer to you and touch you... In a good way not in a pervy way." She said giddily but I give her my confused look.
She walks to my back, put her arms on top of my arms and holding my hand shaped like a bat and swinging... Hence "the get closer to me" part.
"Oh I get it." I said. "It's nice if you let a guy teach you stuff because they feel appreciated and in command but in reality, us girls are in command." She said with a wink but then I give her a confused look... Again.
She slaps her forehead, "You have much to learn!" She whined. "For example, you know how to dance..." I cut her off. "But I don't know how to dance." I replied. "That's not the point! Just listen." She said and I nod.
"For example, you know how to dance and Kyle asks you to dance even if he's really bad at dancing. He'll say he'll lead the way. You accidentally step on his foot, you apologize. He steps in and teaches you how to dance thus making him more attractive because he's trying to take charge." She said.
"Right, okay?" I replied. "Now let's get you dressed up real cute and protected." She said and walked towards my closet. "Protected?" I asked. "Yeah from all the baseballs that are comin' for ya." She winked and then laughed at me.
This is why I love Lauren and her witty advices and useful insights. I could always depend on her even if she comes out a little bossy than usual but she can really deliver great results. With her, it's never boring.
Moments later, after arguing about the outfit choices she has laid out for me, we finally got to agree on what outfit I should wear to my date tonight.
"Dark gray shirt paired with black jeans and wear your black boots." She said as she threw the clothes at me. "Alright, alright! You didn't have to throw it at me." I hissed. "Whatever, just go take a bath and I'll set up my make up kit." She said and pushed me in the bathroom.
So a couple of minutes later I finish taking a bath and decided to linger around the bathroom a little longer. But then I hear noises outside my room...
