Chapter 1
It was just another normal day in school... Well, not really that normal. It was the last day of my junior year. The last... Day! Can you believe it?!
I'm going to be a senior next year.
That means, I finally get to be the new Editor-In-Chief for "The Jamestown High School Bugle"!
I was sitting there in my last class for the day - Trigonometry. I was busy dozing off and looking out into the distance when suddenly the bell rings.
Everyone shouts for joy! Throwing the papers in the air!
I'm kidding, this isn't like one of those movies though.
So I stood up from my seat, got my books and went outside of the classroom only to find almost everyone in the hallways celebrating.
I looked for Lauren but there was no sign of her. But I did get to see Jake and he walked towards me. We hug and he spins me around, "It's summer!" He shouted and we both laugh. "Now let's go!" He added and we both get out of the school.
While we head to his car, we see Lauren run towards Jake and hugs him. "It's summer sweet summer!" She yelled and Jake laughs. She lets go and then hugs me, "So there's a party at Zach's tonight. He and Kyle went ahead to buy some things for the party." She said to both me and Jake. "Oh okay, so it's just us who's going home then?" He asked with a smile. "Yup I guess so." Lauren replied.
So we go inside Jake's jeep and as usual I sit in the back while Lauren sits in the front.
Jake and Lauren have this unspoken chemistry and they're both afraid to say how they really feel about each other so they just flirt like crazy even if they're both really clueless but everyone around them notices it. Especially me.
All Jake ever seems to talk about is football, going to the gym and Lauren. While Lauren talks about millions of things like random thoughts at least and sometimes about Jake. Seriously, these two need to get together - fast!
A while later, we arrive home and I say good bye to Lauren and Jake, who by the way were still talking as Jake walks Lauren to her house. It's not a long walk though because again, we all live in a cul de sac with Jake's house in the center.
I go inside my house and crash on the couch in the living room. I was about to fall asleep until my brother sat beside me and made noises on his phone. Annoying!
"Ugh Peter, What're you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be studying for your finals?" I hissed. "What? Berkeley's just a plane ride away, and besides I came back here for Bree's birthday dumdum." He retorted. Bree is his girl friend, by the way. "Right okay." I said in a condescending way and left the living room.
I went upstairs and threw myself on the bed. I don't know why I was so tired but I was so happy to be reunited with my bed.
I was about to doze off when suddenly my phone buzzed and it was a text saying, "Are you at home?" From Kyle. My stomach literally flipped. I replied with a "Yeah. You?" And he said, "Go to the window." So I went and I see him carrying a whiteboard saying, "Congrats to the new Editor-In-Chief!" And he smiled. I grabbed my whiteboard and say "Thanks!" And smile palely. I hate how cheesy this sounds and how unoriginal this may seem but Kyle and I have been doing this whiteboard thing since we were kids so suck on that, Taylor Swift. Haha kidding I love you T. Swizzle.
Anyways, as you know, Kyle and I have been friends since we were kids. We've seen each other grow up (literally) and I don't know if he knows it but I sort of have a crush on him. I've been telling myself that I wanna tell him how I really feel but at the same time, I don't want to ruin our friendship.
