Rose loved Saturday afternoons, because there was rarely anyone in the hallways and so she could walk slowly and smoothly as she headed towards the dungeons. At that time of the day the other students were on the school grounds, enjoying the little free time they had before the exams, and Rose was glad of it.
There was only the one person she wanted to see in that part of the castle.
However, her joy came to an end when she saw the five figures blocking the corridor.
Rose didn't know how to react when Lucius Malfoy turned towards her followed by his three bodyguards and Narcissa, but apparently the Slytherin had put things together very quickly when he saw Rose arrive.
"Wow, Benson, what are you doing here?" he asked with a hissing voice.
"Nothing that matters to you," she replied, as if spitting out the words.
She looked at Narcissa out of the corner of her eye, as if blaming her for that ambush, but the blonde looked away. Rose noticed that despite her heavy makeup, she had a visible black eye.
"Of course it matters to me. Anything related to the death eaters matters to me. Or are you going to deny that you're dating a death eater?" he asked evilly, thinking that Rose didn't know that Severus had joined Voldemort. She, however, remained unchanged.
"I don't have time to put up with your nonsense, Malfoy, so get out of the way so I can pass," she demanded, but Lucius took out his wand and pointed it at Rose.
"Don't think you're going to get away with it, traitor. You will not contaminate the name of the death eaters or Slytherin with your presence again."
Rose pulled out her wand in time and managed to stop the curse that Lucius had cast on her. She put her best skills as a witch into play and kept her rival at bay, although she was quite surprised to see that Lucius was very experienced in the dark arts.
"What did you think, Benson, that only you knew the death eaters' tricks?" Lucius asked between spells.
"I thought you idiots weren't capable of doing them," she replied, bending down to narrowly escape a curse.
The two were very evenly matched, but despite that, Rose was convinced that she was going to win, so she pressured Lucius to back down.
He stumbled and for a second left a gap for her to attack, but at that moment, Nott stepped forward and pinned Rose to the wall with a spell. Putting on his clothes, Lucius approached Rose and took her wand away so she wouldn't attempt a non-verbal spell.
"What are you going to do now, Benson?" he asked evilly. Since she couldn't kick him, Rose did the only thing she could do, she spat. Lucius turned away from her in disgust and wiped her saliva with the sleeve of his tunic.
"Don't you have any good manners, traitor?"
She responded with a string of insults that would have made the drunkest innkeeper proud. Lucius responded with a resounding slap that split her lip and left her face numb. Rose looked at him in surprise, since no one, except for her father, had dared to treat her like that.
"Don't speak to me in that tone again, Mudblood," Lucius insulted her.
"I'll talk to you however I want," she replied, hurt. "Disgusting bastard."
Lucius raised his hand again to hit her and she flinched instinctively, waiting for the blow. But it never arrived.
Lucius and Rose looked surprised at Severus, who had just come out of who knows where, and was holding the Lucius' wrist tightly while staring at him with a scary look.
