The Golden Princess

Ninja

I got up and got ready. I put on my golden dress and put my hair in a braid. My door burst inward and I scowled. "Didn't Mom teach us both to knock?" I ask Harumi without turning from the mirror.

"I did knock but you didn't answer. So I thought you were in danger and came in," Harumi told me.

I snorted. "My window doesn't open so how would anyone have gotten in here?" I paused. "What would you have done if someone was in here anyway?"

"Uh...I hadn't thought that far ahead but you're my sister and I don't want to lose you."

I sighed. "Is there a reason you came to get me?"

"Yes. I don't want you to wear your golden dress. It's going to make all eyes on you and I want those eyes on me."

"Sorry, sis. But I'm wearing this dress whether you like it or not," I said as I walked past her and down the stairs.

"Please, Y/n?" She pleaded.

"No." We both then went outside and took up our positions behind Father. As he spoke I looked around and spotted a couple of the Ninja. My eyes landed on the Earth Ninja but I turned my head away quickly before he noticed I was watching. See, no one knew that I had a favorite Ninja. Not even Harumi who would be unhappy because she thought I told her everything. She once told me she tells me everything but I sincerely doubt it. There was a pop and the Green Ninja knocked all of us down. Once they thought it was safe we all went inside. I watched the Ninja come in with Hutchens.

"We would like to thank you for coming and watching over us," Father said.

The Green Ninja bowed. "It was our honor."

"Our daughters know you quite well. We wouldn't be surprised if they could name you without you giving us your names," Mother said.

"I've always wanted to meet you and I say it's us who are honored to meet you," Harumi said.

"May I see if I can name you guys without you introducing yourselves?" I asked. The Green Ninja nodded. I stepped down and started with him. ."Lloyd Garmadon, the Green Ninja, and the best leader that Ninja could have. Nya Smith, Master of Water, and the only girl in the team." I smiled. "Which makes you the lucky one. Zane Julian, Master of Ice, and a Nintroid. Kai Smith, Master of Fire, and you can be a little hotheaded. Jay Walker, Master of Lightning, and whose mouth runs as fast as his lightning. Cole Brookstone, Master of Earth, and the best rock cliff climber anyone has known. It is our honor to have you in our palace." I looked at my parents. "Mother, Father, may the Ninja stay for a few days until this all blows over? They could keep us safe and Mother won't have to worry about something bad happening to us."

Father nodded. "What an excellent idea. Hutchins will show you to your rooms and tell you everything you need to know."

I watched them walk away. Harumi came and stood beside me. "So which one do you like?" She asked.

I glanced at her. "Who said I like one of them?"

She rolled her eyes. "Please. your eyes stayed on the Earth Ninja the entire time he was in the room."

I blushed. "No, they didn't!"

"Oh, yes they did."

"Who do you like?" I shot back.

She smiled. "The Green Ninja. Who else?"

I frowned. "You like Lloyd Garmadon?"

"Yes. He is handsome, don't you think?"

"He is nice but handsome? Eh."

She frowned. "What?"

I shrugged. "He's just not my type."

"And the Earth Ninja is?!?"

"I never said I liked him!"

"You blushed when I said you liked him!"

"That just means I was embarrassed. I don't like him!"

"You do."

"No, I don't!"

"Do."

"Don't."

"Do."

"Girls, what are you doing?" Mother said.

"Nothing," we both said at the same time.

"Well, you girls better hurry and get to bed. It's getting late." She walked away.

I looked at Harumi. "Today went by kind of fast, don't you think?"

She nodded. "Well, I have to go."

I raised an eyebrow. "Feeding the poor tonight?"

She looked around quickly. "Shush. I don't want anyone finding out!"

I looked around. "There's no one in the room."

She huffed. "You don't know. Some of the guards are sneaky." She walked away.

"Not my fault you don't pay attention. They literally hide in plain sight," I muttered even though I knew she couldn't hear me. I went to my room and changed out of my dress. I wish Harumi would be nice and ask me to go with her. But I don't think she'd like that. You know, I wonder how she's going to get out of the palace without one of the Ninja spotting her. I flopped onto my bed. You know what? It doesn't matter. If she gets caught, she gets caught. If she doesn't, she doesn't. I got under the blankets and shut my eyes. It only took a few minutes before I was asleep.
