Jade POVJade wasn't having a good day. Like most not good days it stemmed directly from her parents. She woke up tired, completely exhausted. She'd spent the past three days cooped up in her room working on a pet project. She wrapped her hand around the handle of the weapon. A laser weapon that was way too complicated to work. But Jade could dream, very well given the fact that she was slumped over her desk, and she hadn't moved since getting up. She looked at it for a second, before sighing. She wasn't getting anywhere with it. Normally her projects would take weeks but this had already been a month, the past three days being a desperate attempt at a final rush to get it done. Jade would normally just continue working on it, But she had agreed to come into school today. There was a test, or presentation, she couldn't really remember. She'd managed to convince her teacher that she only needed to come in on test days. This gave her time to work on her projects, and the teacher a break from calling parents about their recently deceased children. Not her fault messing with a drones Operating System often resulted in the loss of their sentience.
Jade got up groaning as her entire body loudly protested. She almost fell straight onto her face when she attempted to walk towards her closet. Her hand flew around the edge of her bed barely keeping her stable. Jadefinally managed to get up with a small and fragile sense of balance. She walked up to her closet peeking around as if hoping to find new clothes. She grabbed a black hoodie and a black skirt. She wasn't entirely sure if they'd always been black, it was very likely that it had once been white or gray and had been coated in a thick layer of soot. Or was dyed black from the violent explosion of oil she'd accidentally produced by dropping synthetic claws from the third story. She quickly ran into her bathroom, or would have if the door had been open. There was a loud clang that definitely would have gotten her parents attention if they ever bothered to be home. She rubbed her head verifying that her visor wasn't completely smashed by the hit.
Jade waddled into her bathroom. She threw the clothes into the sink, only realizing it wasn't empty when the splashing water glided across her visor. "Ughhh" C'mon Jade wake up! Jade slapped herself across the visor, feeling a few of her systems kick online. She grabbed her clothes out of the sink and gently placed them on the counter. Jade looked at herself in the mirror deciding if she really needed the shower, when she was met with a soot covered clone. She reluctantly undressed and turned the shower on. She activated 'Waterproof mode' which didn't actually do much. It closed a few valves, it didn't make them waterproof at all, in fact if they spent more than a minute submerged they wouldn't be able to un-submerge themselves ever again. Jade entered the shower, she let the water run down her body for a short period waiting for the signature zap feeling that would spell the end of her peaceful and entirely solitary moment. Then it happened. Her arm shot forward in a painful jolt. She quickly turned the water off before grabbing a dirty rag. Then looking for a cleaner one, When she couldn't find one she sighed before wiping off the remaining sticky black goo.
Then she dressed herself, giving herself one final look into the mirror and retreating back into her room. She gazed at the messy and disorganized room. She'd have to clean it eventually. Then she gazed at the time. She had ten minutes before class. Eventually was a fun word though because all it took was one final glare at the heap of trash on her desk. Then she was in the kitchen, she didn't need to eat anything. She hadn't been injured and she isnt overheating, she wasn't even warm. She then quickly left after remembering that at any moment both Khan and Nori could come through the front door and attempt to have a conversation with her. She wandered the halls of the colony cautiously. She wasn't at home, at any moment a drone could walk around a corner and force her into a conversation.
She walked into the classroom, ten minutes late. She hadn't wanted to be early, in fact she was pretty much early when you thought about the fact that she could have just not come. "Nice to have you Jade." The teacher didn't bother looking up from his desk, or his coffee. Jade went up to his desk and grabbed the handful of papers on his desk. Then she went to her own desk. She sat down after patting the chair down twice. Just to make sure one of her classmates didn't pipe bomb it or something. Which realistically was only something she knew how to do or had the balls to. But Jade still had to be careful around the classroom. She pulled a pen out of one of her many hiding spots, she always had at least ten writing utensils in every article of clothing she owned. Jade looked down at her test, messily filling in her own name and then breezing through the tests made to challenge the mentally inept or school cheerleader. Based on the groans of annoyance Jade could hear coming from her classmate Lizzy. Jade then stood up, peeking at her classmates' answers laughing at how badly some of them were doing. Jade went up to her teachers desk before gently placing them at the edge of his desk. This teacher was the only one in the entire colony, and the only drone in the colony that Jade genuinely respected. If only a little. Sure he had a blatant favorite in his daughter. But aside from that he was ridiculously kind and very reasonable. With him being the only teacher he was also rather intellectual to the point that Jade might be able to have a reasonably fun conversation. However his daughter was Lizzy and Jade didn't want to try poking the bees nest with the kinds of rumors Lizzy would undoubtedly spread.
