Some things could be cliche yet still had a flock of fans admiring their existence. The view of the sparkling city lights at night was one such thing; especially if seen from a high place, few people would find it boring to take in this beautiful landscape more than once in their life.
Dinner time during the weekend was always one of the busiest times for restaurants, big or small, expensive or not. Even a luxurious restaurant in a five-star hotel would find itself brimming with patrons from one corner to the other, all demanding excellent meals and service to make the sky-high price worth the value. Professional waiters and waitresses swiftly crossed the dining area back and forth; delicious meal after delicious meal kept rushing out of the kitchen, along with pleasant drinks to accompany the diners.
Granted, although each patron had their pride and manners, with so many people gathering in one enclosed space, some noises would be unavoidable. Wine glasses were clinking, dining utensils occasionally bumped against the ceramic plates, while the diners were chatting and laughing as they enjoyed the delicacies. If one wanted to enjoy a calm dinner with no disturbance whatsoever, the only solution would be to book the exclusive private rooms that would guarantee a peaceful dining experience — with a price, of course.
Having just barely escaped from the clutch of a particularly infuriating person, this quiet environment was exactly what Zhang Zhehan needed right now. He had rightfully returned Lao Hu's unsolicited approach with his whole fist, but it didn't mean that distasteful meeting hadn't taken a physical and mental toll on him.
It always happened every single time the bastard approached him. Lao Hu would let his Alpha dominance run rampant, trying to make the Omega in him fall into submission. He had also attempted the same thing during the Wang group's party the other day — although he still held back a little considering the presence of so many important people around him. Unfortunately for Zhang Zhehan, there wasn't anyone else where they met just now, so Lao Hu felt no need to hold back.
The brain might know how to differentiate between friends and enemies, but the body sometimes could only follow what it was biologically made to do. If Zhang Zhehan had been just a little weak-willed, he might have fallen into that detestable person's dominance. Even after they had separated for quite some time now, he still was unable to completely get rid of Lau Hu's scent sticking to his person.
He was annoyed. He was disgusted.
The only saving grace for him was that the next agenda on his schedule would be the long-awaited dinner with a certain young Alpha that had never given him one bad impression from the first time they met. With only the two of them occupying this exclusive private room, having the splendid city view spread beyond the window beside their table, and high-quality meals to fill their tummy, Zhang Zhehan figured it would more or less become a comforting experience, one that could help him forget the unhappy moment he'd just went through earlier.
Nevertheless, it didn't seem like his younger partner was as excited about this as he expected.
"...Boy, why haven't you touched your meal?"
It was a simple question, perfunctory even. But Zhang Zhehan clearly saw the young Alpha sitting across from him twitching slightly, like a nervous child who got scolded.
"You don't like the meal?" Zhang Zhehan asked him again, "Or are there some things that you couldn't eat on that plate?"
"N-No, it's fine," Gong Jun quickly responded, accidentally knocking his elbow against the table when he tried to straighten his posture, "I mean, I'm fine. I'll eat now."
His behavior couldn't be any weirder. No matter how much Zhang Zhehan tried not to give it too much thought, the other person's uneasiness was simply too obvious.
