As I dress in my uniform the people I had lost return to mind. My family,my friends and Dineo,were they all okay? Would I meet them all again? My door opened with a creak...it was my mother. "Since when do you get up so early?" She asked,shocked by my already dressed self. Oh yeah, I wasn't always like this,before the whole end of the world,I was a heavy and late sleeper,never late for school,thanks to my mother. I ate breakfast in my room and sat there pondering if what happened was real...it certainly felt so. Every injury,every loss,every...kill...it felt too real to be a dream. My next question was how and why I was almost 43 years in the past. I looked at my system screen but still couldn't decide if what I had lived through for 20 years was real. On my way to school I was stuck on that question. How and why? More questions popped up as I went through all my memories of the time spent in that hell hole. Who sent me back? Did I do it? As I stepped out of the car and threw my bag over my shoulder I looked around to see if I could see any of them. I stopped dead in my tracks as I saw all 4 of them. Nathan,Nathaniel, Timothy and Tian ,which was weird. We hadn't become friends untill Grade 10,so why were they together...then it hit me,they came back too or was I wrong? I walked up to them and I was certain,we all did the stupid salute we made up in Grade 11. I almost burst into tears at our reunion and then I saw her...Dineo... She was here,walking as cute as ever. My questions now had one singular answer : You're here to change it,to save every last one of them,Dineo,the love that I couldn't save and the friends who stayed with me untill the end. I don't care what I have to sacrifice to do it,I will save them.
After about 30 minutes we settled into our classes,with all 5 of us in the same class. We retraced everything we remember before coming back and it was all the same,we all had the system and we were all prepared to do whatever it takes to survive this time. We started our plans,from exercise to recourses we could get to people we can recruit. We picked a single point to focus on. Raising our stats before the cracks open,since we altered the past,we made the conclusion that the future might change as well and prepared for it. We wrote down everything we could remember about the 20 years we spent surviving. We wrote down our skills of the time and forged our work out routines based on the stats we needed to improve them. We went through the school day as normal and yet it wasn't normal at all,we knew all of it,not surprising seeing as we were university graduates,so,we ignored the classes and immediately moved on to people we can recruit,if we want to change our fates, we'll need strong allies. We had very few options in the school,numbering to 3 people with the ability to be strong according to our past life. Richard,who was a tank class chosen, Dineo who was a ranged class chosen and Theo,who was a stealth class chosen. Me and Nathanial we're both melee class chosen,Timothy a magic class,Nathan a summoner class and Tian a healer class. We needed at least Dineo for ranged support and Richard to soak up some damage. Yet,we struggled on how to go about recruiting them,it wouldn't go well to just walk up to them and say " hey we're from the future and the world is going to end in 22 years,join our group to survive". We needed a solid plan. We decided up the roles,I would go after Dineo as she was my former life's lover and Nathan would go after Richard as they both played rugby,the other 3 would need to scout the school for any other talents we missed,luckily the system could help with their roles. With the standard given skill "Peek" we could see stats and the future abilities of those we knew in our past lives. That's why we decided on Dineo and Richard,their classes were even better than most of ours. With the plan set,we went for it. It was time for the start of our counter. For the start of our victory.
-Roughly 3 years later-
At the start of the mid year break,I invited Dineo to a camp event me and my father host every chance we got. It took me a full 3 years to get her to like me enough for us to date. It took Nathan only 2 months to get Richard on board. Timothy had gotten his new girlfriend,Ann,on board as well. She was a holy class,the direct counter to what we would be facing. Nathaniel had gotten a few recruits that had labor classes such as farming and construction,even a blacksmith. Tian was on the look out for a butcher class,which was both a labor and melee class chosen,only problem is that,like holy classes,they are quite rare. Our exercise plans had paid off,with all of us unlocking 2-5 of our class skills and even a few passive skills. School was nothing to worry about,seeing that in 20 years,it would be meaningless. We excelled with the info of our past lives and we had options to recruit more and more people daily,but,with only the basis of our plans set,we couldn't risk any dead weight. During break the original 5 linked in one of the classes without a camera. " Status reveals on go? " I asked. " On go. " They chimed together. "3". "2". "1". "Go." As we revealed our screens we went into detail about our stats and where we needed improvement.
