The sky blues began to fade into an ombre of orange and purple hues as day turned into night, the city began to slow down after the turbulent events that had taken place earlier that day, both within NYC and among The Boys. Butcher was nice enough to drop Isabelle back home before heading towards Vought Tower with Hughie and Soldier Boy, something she was thankful for as she desperately needed a shower and a good fucking nap.

At the moment, Butcher and Soldier Boy were standing together on the top floor of one of the buildings nearest to Vought Tower with the plan to track down Black Noir and eventually do the same with Homelander. Time continued ticking by as the pair waited for the moment to strike, the conversation continued flowing.

"After going to his golf buddies in the war department, they got me into Dr. Vox's Compund V Trail. Which is where I became a superhero." Soldier Boy explained, there was a bit of a smug look on his face as those words came out of his mouth.

"And what did the old man say to them?" Butcher asked as he leaned back against the table, listening to the supe open up.

Soldier Boy's eyebrows knitted together, yet a smile remained on his face, "He wasn't impressed, he thinks I got the easier way. Cheated my way to becoming a superhero."

Soldier Boy's smile faded after he finished his sentence, there was glass look to his eyes as he looked down at his drink letting silence consume the room once again. Soldier Boy couldn't bare to let that happen for too long so he decided to ask another question,

"So, you got any kids?" he asked Butcher.

Butcher set down his glass on the table, "It's complicated."

"I always assumed I had a few out there.. I always wanted to have a couple, do a better job than my father ever did." he leaned over and slowly sipped on his glass, "He's the only blood I got left.

"Homelander ain't yours. You never named him, you didn't raised him, Vought grew him in a fucking test tube so he could be your replacement." Butcher paused, "Maybe after we part ways, you can finally do what you wanted to do."

"Like what?"

Butcher sucked his teeth a bit as he put one thought in his next words, "Depends on how you want to make do with your second chance. You could fuck it up or live a life you wanted to live."

Soldier Boy inhaled sharply as he took the time to let Butcher's words truly sink in, "I'm going to go and get some air."

Soldier Boy placed his glass down on the table as he exited through the side door leading to a small room, on one side there was a small pile on boxes and some cleaning supplies. On the other side there was a chairs stacked on top of another, leaning up against the window sill. He closed the door behind him before he moved towards the chairs, taking them down from one another so he could sit on one. Once he settled himself comfy, he pushed opened the window with one hand and used the other to pull out a blunt and lighter from his pocket.
