"Do I really have to go?"
"Why are you asking me that?
"I did but that was months before I broke up with Lee."
"Tol, this is not about Lee."
"I know that but I just don't want things to be awkward."
"It won't be awkward."
"Ba't mo nasabi?"
"She has a boyfriend."
This wasn't news to me.
"Just because she has one doesn't mean na hindi nga magiging awkward ang lahat."
"Are you still not over my cousin?"
"Do you think a year and a half is enough to get over her? We were together for more than four years."
"Kunsabagay. Isa pa, Lee is hot."
"Ew. Gross."
"I'm saying that as a compliment."
"It's still gross. Pinsan mo siya and you sound like a pervert just now."
Binuksan niya ang passenger door at hinagis ang backpack.
"Basta. You and I are going to Laguna after work this Friday . Pupunta tayo sa binyagan and we are going to have a good time.
I said goodbye to him and walked over to the red Toyota Corolla that was parked beside his car.
Somehow, I doubted that I will have a good time.
